Give that baby a new sensor and she should be fine. However I'd recommend to get her codes out first (just to confirm). Btw, the initial pointer in this direction was given by @xulfiqar bro and some ford forums and I did the rest of the digging. It seems that that the signal pin is internally pulled up to 5 volts and as the bad sensor heats up, it gets internally shorted. I also ended up replacing my car's Camshaft Position Sensor along with the Crankshaft Position Sensor as my scan tool later on picked up a P0340 error code. Based on this, if both Crankshaft and Camshaft sensors are of same age and one has gone bad, it's a good idea to replace both as a pair (Keep the other one as backup if still good, for bad times ). Better safe than sorry.
