i think if i do buy the car ill inspect the area of the filter if its not a perfect fit i owl discard it immediately but if a company is marketing and claiming so aggressively can there be trust to their claims? the filter was installed in japan not here any way and they even put up stickers saying to not change the airlifter?

its probably an oil bath filter..and they dont need to be changed... clean it and fill with 2 stroke motor oil

For that filter K&N has Air Filter oil, which comes in black bottle to be used for these million mile filters. But i won't recommend using K&N reusable filters, OE are better and replace after 5k-10k.

okay so i think a safer and better way would be to use OE filter and just change it regularly and i dont see how this will give any better performance.

heres are the specs of this particular air filter for rush and the paper filter is just cotton gauze like OE filter so how can they last or give any better performance.

While I won't doubt the claims coined in by K&N yet I would refrain from it. Reason? Did you get the filter from the authorized dealer? If something goes wrong due to the filter, will the dealer or K&N take responsibility? If yes, go ahead eyes closed. If no, well, you get the point. OEM are your best bet.

I use K&N air filter too but I can't say for sure if it increased the horsepower of my car.

keep on using it and you will decrease engine power surely once the cylinder walls wear down from dust.

they real good as it gives proper performance if changed in time!

I wouldn't recommend washing it up and put them back!

its like you dont give a damn about your engine performance!

volkswagen made the bugatti veyron, at full engine power it sucks more air than 4 toyo 2JZ engines combined, I wonder why they did not simply call KN filters to supply them.

similarly the AMG section of MB still use MB factory filters, Same with Brabus, some Brabus models pull stupid amounts of power - Not one is specified KN filters from the factory - I wonder why that is?

i test drove and checked a car that i may buy potentially, it was a toyota rush with 3sz-ve and it had a lifetime K&N air filter installed and there was a sticker on the hood saying air filter lifetime million miles k&N warranty and there was a K&N sticker on the back as well.

now the owner said the filter required to be washed every 10k km and re oiled and he uses WD-40 for that.

now my question is can a air filter really last a lifetime even after washing and would it have any performance benefits or is using a regular genuine air filter better?

does this engine require a oiled airlifter?

and oiling with WD-40, is the owner abusing the car?
what oil should be used to oil a airlifted anyway.

as a rule of thumb - stay away from any such car in Pakistan - the amount of dust ingested into the engine is unaccounted for and you will be buying a dying machine.

yep i did stay away, the owner was british chap named David Chambers ALesworth, he's very famous artist and he was in a big hurry to go back and get rid of the car, he didn't have the auction sheet but i did verify it and car turned out to have either rolled over or been in a tsunami from the R grade and pictures,despite, the car on test drive also had shot suspension and electrical gremlins with the infotainment system. needless to say David was shocked at see the auction sheet he did not no about its history and i bet wont be leaving with happy thoughts from pakistan. he even told me he checked the car with a ginger counter before buying but forgot to spot the accident damaged repaired pillars etc, the wear in the engine would have been the least of my worries.

yes, seen it - using the KN cone is a sure way to ingest dirt into the engine.

same situation as cone, the filter media has giant holes in it compared to the factory filter.

k&n filters and other oiled filters are known to damage cars with MAF sensors because all the oil and dirt penetrates through the filter and gets onto the delicate coils of the MAF sensor which later shorten the life/damage the MAF sensor causing it to malfunction!

And to answer your question.. you see every car manufacturer prefers using the company oil and air filters and they are mad expensive as hell! But, K&N is in category of OEM... people usually use it for to get good performance and economical price!

which manufacturer has a K&N filter in one of their part number databases? do you know of any?
