Of course it can. If IMF and US adds a condition to future monitory assistance requiring secular laws be implemented, how long do you think would it take our politicians and government to comply in order to get the monies?

There are only a handful of the countries in the world whose constitution, civil and criminal laws are based primarily on religious teachings. Now, pay close attention to their standings in the current world order. I know, we don't care about these worldly/temporary/fleeting measures; unfortunately the rest of the world does.

ur wrong actually, a non-muslim can not become president(thats in the constitution), or assume any other senior position in the country(thats not necassarily in constitution, but naturally its not possible for non-muslims due to social reasons...)
Since all senior positions are held by muslims, non-muslims are treated as minority...
most important position is obviously in the army, and army dont take non-muslims to officer positions...

as an islamic state, with islamic rulers and islamic majority, its not possible for them to let the non-muslim minority grow....

same things happen in other countries as well....
minorities are kept minorities and not allowed to expand...

btw if ur legal status is muslim, u can become president...

I think I should start by deleting this post.

What really is pathetic is the notion that since this website is named PakWheels, everyone interacting with it must be either a Pakistani citizen or display their undying love for the country. This is an international website with members across the globe. How do you think they feel after reading such lovely thoughts of yours?

I can't decide if this rather loosely thrown statement even warrants a response, but I have to point out that your example is a bad one. We all know India has its share of problems just like every other country has its share of rotten apples, and I'm sure some backward folks in far flung villages live like its 1800 A.D, but the constitution of India certainly DOES NOT discriminate against minorities based on religion. IT IS NOT STATE POLICY HERE. Our ex-president is Islamic, many high-ranking individuals in various ministries are non-Hindu ('coz that's what most of Pakistan thinks of India - the "hindooo" country lol), heck our current prime minister is Sikh. We DO NOT have laws "punishing" people who don't follow the religion of the majority. I think its time for someone to wake up and think of a better example.

I agree but i would like to mention that India is a secular state but Pakistan is not so that is why we have a more religious approach toward everything..
Though muslims are a minority in India but they are leading a pretty good life (from a minority perspective)...
They even get subsidized packages on Hajj (Yes they do..)

and Pakistan i a Muslim state but is run like a secular state

Indian politicians love india that is why it is one of the fastest growing economies and is said to have the potential to be the next superpower
whereas Pakistani politicians just dont care about it and hence we are on the verge of collapsing economically

Whatever anyone says,I have been to india,and it is ten times more tolerant than Pakistan.It has it's own set of problems but overall it's a great country.Atleast they are'nt biased against non hindu minority.And they are very welcoming to people of different religions.

Education, in and of itself, is not sufficient to eradicate ignorance. Education needs to produce enlightenment (not just a paying job) before ignorance starts to ebb away.
