Mechanic recommended 10w40 shell but i changed & choose 10w30 3.5 litres Caltex havoline is it right oil or should i go for any other oil
P.s i will change after drain interval of 5k
Since already have put 10w30 caltex i don't know about previous history of car

Hello dears,
I have Mira 2012 (79000 km driven) which even gave me 32 km/liter and normally 18/19 km/Liter. What is the best grade engine oil in castrol to use, please. Someone recommended 10W-40. I feel like Mira is a small car and there should be light engine oil to use for these small engine.
Note: I bought the car some 08/09 months ago. I do not know which engine oil is previously used.

Expert/experienced opinions are highly appreciated, please.

HI, Why did not you use 10W-40 or 10W-30 engine oil? how many kms your car is driven, please.

I am confused as which categoy in castrol product to use. my car is 2012 model Mira, 79000 km driven. There are Castrol magnetic 10W-40 reccommended but I do not think its a good option as the car's engine is small and fresh. The above oil is thicker.

I am using Toyota Petron Plus 10w30. Its recommended for both petrol and diesel engines. I change it at every 5000km along with oil filter. From toyota dealership.
Revo V 2022. 40k driven in 16 months.

strange phenomena is noted during past 12000 km-

fuel average of daily mule has significant variation just by change of engine oil brand & viscosity.
over Addinol - 5W-30 40 liters rolled approx 285 - 300 kms engine feeling heavy - approx 5 tank fill and i was skeptical about plenty of factors. However found nothing switched back to Shell Helix 10W-40 for next 5000 kms 40 liters rolled 310-315 kms. - In July I made choice switching to AISIN 10W-40 2 tanks and she is running 325+ kms in 38 liters.

with engine oil prices soaring, have planned to run 7500 kms and top up if any sign of engine oil level drop. it is an old carb auto transmission Corolla 1300 2E 12 valve.

please make sure to follow user manual instructions as long as vehicle is under warranty

It's written API SN which is basically fully synthetic. Warranty is another story. Try and claim the warranty of this vehicle after eid leaves and you will find the answer.

Api rating has nothing to do with the oil being fully synthetic, semi synthetic or mineral. Lots of oils in the market which are api SN rated but are mineral ones.

SM has lower maximum limit than SG, but current common offerings of SG like havoline probably have very little ZDDP juudging from their low TBN in their product data sheet. Oils dont have a minimum limit so in reality a low quality SG can have lower ZDDP than SM, BTW the ZDDP or SAPS limit are only till w30, w40 and w50 oils even with SN dont have to comply with SAPS limit, this is possibly true for SP too.
