I was asking that please tell me if it is safe to buy Thai/Japanese oil from local market

Both are same, I used Japanese one after fitting new tranny. You can use either one. There is no counterfeit, just a difference of origin. Purchase only from an authentic source.

Ok I have seen the video. It was very informative and I will do accordingly. Thank you for your response. It will be a very difficult job to explain this to a desi mechanic and get him to do accordingly.

And I never planned to change my CVT fluid but recently I started feeling shift delays and jerks, like when I throttled the car I could feel a jerk of gear change just like a normal Automatic transmission which shouldn't be happening because its a CVT. This is when I started searching and came to a conclusion that its best to do a fluid change before something bigger happens.

Do it but do it the proper way to ensure it’s not overfilled or underfilled . What city are you in ..? If in Lahore I think you can contact @syncview to see if he’s following the OEM method.

If in isb check with @dani_kk to see if his workshop follows the correct method to change CVT oil via temperature check method .

Bosses here. Need help. The manual asks me to pour 0-20W in my vehicle up to the temperature of 50 degree C. Now the temperature in my city does go to 45-49 regularly in summers and also 50 but only twice or thrice in the season. Should I stick to the recommended grade or switch to the next suggested grade for 50C and higher?

P.s: the car in question is elantra 2021.

Curious to know more about Oil Grades and the weather. Im using 5W-30 for my Fortuner Diesel, will it be okay to alternate between 5W-30 & 5W-40 depending up on the season or it affects the engine?

0w20 to 5w30 is absolutely fine and perfect for all weather conditions. Just use a fully synthetic oil from a major global brand like Shell or Havoline (Chevron) or Mobil1 or Liqui Moly — any cheapest you can get in your city.

There’s no need to alternate, both are fine for all temperature ranges. Alternating will not damage anything though.
Make sure it’s fully synthetic and from a major global oil brand. Since yours is a Japanese engine it mostly calls for API standards.

Does anybody here have experience of PSO DEO oils for diesel engines? How do they compare with the goto caltex delo gold oils.

PSO DEO max is fully synthetic and API CK4 while delo gold ultra is API CI4 and MGX is CJ4.

Also does anyone know who is supplier for PSO oils?

Last owner ny mjy kaha k wo 20 50 dalwa rha hai per mai ny us py 10 40 try kia 1100km chlny k bad uska oil kam nai hoa ab mai chah rha hn k is sy ek or grade low try karun. Ap sb bhaion ka ye acha mashwra chahye k mai konsa grade use karun zic mai? Jo engine k lye acha ho or please average gari ki kch khas nai hai tho fuel average kaisy behtr kr skty hain.

Use 10w40 full synthetic. You can try Havoline ProDS 5w-40 but you might see cold start oil reduction. I would stay with 10w-40 for a while and do frequent oil changes. After 4 or 5 oil changes i would try 5w-40. Also make sure your using correct sparkplugs, decent ignition coils, clean injectors and fuel filter along with a proper cooling system.

So, I should stay with 10 40 full synthetic full synthetic for the next oil change, and how frequently should I change oil means after how many km driven? And for sparkplugs, I am using Denso currently. Can you please suggest some good sparkplugs?

I have an old cultus 2011 model and I need to change my oil the previous owner used 20 to 50 grade oil and after I purchased the car I changed the oil with the same grade 20 50.now after doing some research I found that 20 50 is used for old engines.my car has no blow or not any smoke but after consulting with the few mechanics. They all advised me to put 20 to 50 grade oil. They are saying in summer the car needs a heavier oil which I did not understand. Its my first car and I don't know about these things
Can any of you guide me what I should do if you need more info tell me

It's great that you decided to ask.

Short answer: Don't use 20W-50. Use 5W-30, 10W-30, or 10W-40.
Change at 6 months or 8,000km, whichever comes first.

5W-40 is also fine, but you don't need to worry about the first number (i.e. 0W 5W 10W or 15W) unless you live in a place where you have quite cold winters.

Always follow the oil specification and grade specified in your owner's manual. It's a fairly involved topic, not difficult to learn about, but you will find lots of arbitrary or contradictory information if you continue asking for people's opinions.

Forget about people's opinions. Suzuki designed and manufactured the engine and the vehicle, they have told you specifically and clearly what it needs in the owner's manual.

What is the odometer reading on your vehicle? Would you happen to know how long it has used 20W-50 for?

I just bought the car 6 months ago. The previous owner was using 20W-50 oil. The odometer reading is around 170,000 km. There's no unusual noise from the engine and no smoke from the exhaust. The engine looks clean under the oil cap.

Sounds good. If your oil change is due, my personal decision would be to switch to a full synthetic 5W-30, available through pretty much everyone (PSO, Caltex, Shell, Total, etc.), and see what happens.

Your engine is designed for it and should be fine. If it starts making noises or smoking or anything, the previous owner was probably trying to cover something up with his 20W-50 use.

Aoa Everyone! I just recently bought a toyota Passo Moda 2021 model. I'm the first owner and the car has a running of 14000km from Japan. I went to get the oil changed. I read on the internet that the 1kr-fe requires 0w-20. But my mechanic suggested 5W-50 for pakistani weather after using the car with5W-50 it feels more rattled and less responsive. Then I saw forums that I should not go for 5W-50 and rather a maximum of 5W-30. I wanted to ask should I go back to 0W-20 and is it good for this weather in Rawalpindi. Or should i go for 5W-30. Thank you!

A w50 oil for Japanese cars, good way to ruin the engine. Only use 0w20 to 5w30. Fully synthetic.

Can't go wrong with any global brand like Shell,Mobil1,Castrol, Total, Amsoil, Liquimoly. Only make sure the product is genuine and that you are putting the right recommended viscosity oil as per the manufacturer.
I have personally used all the brands mentioned above, with the exception of Amsoil, while in UAE and they were more or less the same. The price also is similar so don't get scammed if any brand is 2x the price of others.

Also look for Api grade (American Petroleum Institute)
You would be ok with SL TO SP.. don't go for any grade older than SL.
