I think 60k km is for AGS. As far as I remember, manual transmission oil should be changed at 40k km

Amixx dc cvt fluid is not available in Pakistan. Best alternative is Toyota FE CVT Fluid. People have used it without issues.

So a mechanic who is very expert in his field was suggesting on the other day that the oil i purchase from Honda dealership for my Honda city is not as good as the oil available in market of manufacturing companies. According to him the car company like Honda orders total parco to manufacture oil for them with Honda bottle won't be as good as total parco oil available in market as car manufacturers tend to save money on oil and same thing is done by total. Do you think its correct?

Sounds like one of the many ustaad tales. Conspiracy theorists love them and most of our awaam is seasoned conspiracy theorist.

You should ask him what Used Oil Analysis has he done (or even virgin oil analysis) and in what high tech lab that other auto enthusiasts don’t know about. Plus share the specific numbers like HSTS, TBN etc.

Otherwise it’s just a mirch masala story.

No harm in buying from dealership, their oil also meets all specs like API SN/SP, grade etc. only reason I don’t buy from dealership is because they don’t sell the oil that I prefer and even if they were selling, usually they sell at a price higher than the market rate.

To @mgalaxy3 I will add that when one buys a brand new car from the dealer and if one wants to stay on track with the vehicle warranty, one HAS to stick to the regime of carrying out all service at the dealer. So for the initial life of the engine, it is treated to dealer oil. The treatment of any engine's initial care will determine its condition in later life (running in, type of oil, timely filter replacement etc.). Cars properly looked after at the dealer see 200,000 - 250,000km without engine overhaul.

So if we pay attention to this knowledgeable mechanic, ALL brand new cars which were filled with dealer oil should be engine "farigh" by 100,000 km.

I'm confused about the gear oil for my 2021 toyota corolla 1.6 Altis. I've driven 33,000 km and never have I changed the gear oil yet. I'm not sure if I should change the gear oil or not? Can someone please let me know.

I am facing a problem similar to one other grande cvt owner was facing. The car moves easily in reverse gear on plain road but does not move on even slight slope of garage in reverse. The engine demand high rev to move in reverse on slopes. The other gears are normal with no jerks.

I do not have any problem with the gears. Everything is smooth. But I want to change it before something happens. But I'm not sure if it is OK to change at 33,000 km

Refer to owners manual. I think there is a time limit for the gear oil.

So in the owners manual it says. Either every 80,000 km or 48 months. My question is I've bought the car back in 2021. And I've driven it only 32,000 km. But its been 48 months now. Should I replace the gear oil or not?

You should. Transmission fluid also degrades as it ages.

Engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant, everything have shelf life. This is why manufacturers give time based change interval in addition to mileage. Even the brand-new transmission fluid sealed in a bottle can go bad after a few years. It loses the efficiency of its additives with time.
