External temperature does not matter when the car is started because it keeps at designated temperature (set by thermostat valve and auto fan) but it is there when the cold car is started

It should have simply been 0W-20 even in summers, scratching 5W-30.

Toyota gives us 5w30 but I am more inclined to Ow20And which brand in both these please

5W-30 for Pakistan
buy a brand from reputed shop only. Mobil, Havoline, Castrol, Shell, PSO

It's for the cold engine start like for example in cold winter the car is shut off for long time, those 10w or 20w thick oil will be difficult to start engine smoothly and will take more time to get engine warm. Hope you get my point.

@Xulfiqar @capsat a noob question, Does outside temperature has any affect on the engine inner temp? Does oil viscosity depends on the outside temperature?

just a bit as the delta of the cooling system is affected (gets narrow) - on a very very rough scale imagine the internal temperature of the engine is 100C while the outside is 30C, so the delta is 70C, if outside is 55C the delta is 45C which shifts the cooling potential - the delta doesnt remain static either - so dont imagine it as gospel.

But all machines manufactured today have capability to handle such very efficiently unless you are running some sort of high performance high stressed engine like a supercharged one - those engines run quite hot and usually have modes to reduce engine power when engine cooling delta gets out of range.

2nd: I was using TaglonX previously (5w30) grade now I want to shift on better engine Oil so I considered Liqui Moly or Mobil1 5w30 grade, is this a good choice?

Brands are almost same, only oil grades matter...

BTW why dont you use 0w20? I believe it is also good for your engine...

I've been using 5w30 in altis 1.6 2019, I don't know what will happen if I shift to another grade like 0w20. Car mileage is 30k KM

Use mobil 0w40 if u want mobil1 or use liqui moly leichtlauf 5w40 both good oils with almost equal manufacturer approvals, if u want a true PAO oil get liqui moly synthoil 5w40

Why do u want use 0w20 instead of 5w30, fuel economy will be negligible 0w20 hths will be around 2.6 and 5w30 will be around 2.9

Toyota were not that dumb when they designed a cheap car. Corolla is famous for low cost ownership including oil changes.

Yes, but the person shortlisted mobil and liqui moly, if he were to ask for advice for the best value for money i wudve advised helix hx6 syn blend and still manages to pass 229.3

All mercedes engines are built a bit looser than toyotas as they have to run under high load at high speeds, they are all heavy oils with a hot viscosity of 14 cst and a ton of tbn for the extra long oil change mb require.

His toyota is not that kind of machine. Its built to putter around town with the leanest possible expense.

We are not choosing 229.3, we are getting it for same price as any api sn, also with all the dust particles not being filtered by cheap air filter (he might not be using oem) and soot from our ww2 diesel trucks which are below the micron levels that oil and air filter can filter good MOFT will be of advantage, and loss of fuel economy negligible another thing 229.3 will usually have tbn around 10 which will be again good for high sulfur petrol that we have, again he wont be sepnding more on 229.3

Extra long ocis are for 229.5 not 229.3
