Let me correct nickatnite about technical details :-
1) The engine is a 5 cylinder 4200 cc ssanyong unit exact merc. copy and not anything named Mahindra Cummins as it is TATA which is making bulky cummins engines in India for its very big trucks. Mahindra has no such affiliation with the Cummins.
2) The vehicle has sports /formula 1 like inside techs. it has most modern 7 speed automatic gearbox, nitro shocks, all wheel independent suspension, traction controls and a lots of Computer hardware inside the hood.
3) It can speed upto 120 kmpl on rough tarrain with virtual ease.
4) The final version will support an all indian engine derived from CRDe scorpio.
5) The engineer who designed this vehicle is not an Indian and has sports car / 4X4 designing history.
6) The vehicle is 9 feet wide and 3 meters high with tube designed chassis made of high quality alloys.
7) It also boasts of an AC/Heating unit, Power steering and an optional differential lock.
8 ) Above all it has to compete with other Indian manufacturers like TATA and Force motors to vie for an Army contract. It is still miles away from that point.
Surely, we are going to see more such similar models from TATA and Force ( estwile Bajaj Tempo - Trax fame ) in the coming months.
Big thing is that it is much ahead of the present gen. TATA sumos ( 4X4) Mahindra XDP ( 4X4) et el and a leap forward in the indegenious designing from Mahindra.
