Charging rate maybe very slow, reason you are experiencing this is because your ups trickle charges the battery which means that it charges the battery in three different stages at three different rates. Your batteries has no issue, its perfectly normal, as I said that you need an amp-meter to measure the charging rate.
It is normal for the voltage on battery terminal to drop to 25 Volts or 24 volts after charging stops or cutoff voltage if set to 28.8 Volts is achieved, soon charging will stop, this will drop.
Now, in first stage your ups chargers the battery with maybe 8 amperes maybe till 26.06 Volts, then once this voltage is achieved or registered by ups then charging rate slows down to maybe 5 amperes or 4 amperes and then correspondingly to 1 amperes in end. If for example charging rate for 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] stage changes at 27 Volts then you will experience the drop in voltage terminals to 26.6volts so just wanted to say this is normal as charging has also slowed down and in long term it is good for batteries provided ups is able to charge the battery in required time and if not, then this is what you have to see and adjust the charging rate by using on board variables on ups.
Get hold of amp-meter, which tells you about the charging rate. First find out about the charging rate at each stage then change it using on board variable such that at any stage it should not cross the maximum allowable charging rate (13 amperes)
Example: ugs 175 has an amp-hr rating of 130 according to their site, maximum allowable charging rate for this is 13 amperes in start, change the charging rate to 10 or 11 amperes for first step and correspondingly it will also be change for second and third stage.
Charging at 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] and 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] stage will be slower than the first stage. You donāt have to increase it to its maximum allowable charging rate, keep on bringing it near till it serves your purpose and charges the battery in required time.
No itās not a faulty battery, its not even a fault at all, this is where tuning is needed. you need to tune your charging rate.
