old battery in return of the 2,000 is ok, for the current rates, check other dealers too & if you can afford better invest 1 time but to qualty things so try EXIDE 200 Amps.( not too much price diff between 150 & 200)

u already trapped by previous dealer.

from which shop/area do u get this rate?it also varies btw 100-200 Rs btw diff areas in khi
i am suggesting u this as elder brother by seeing elec. cond. in khi & have u read today jang, 2 hrs loadshedding after each hour is going

hey thanks for the valuable suggestion brownrose78 , i have taken rates from 2 different dealers the thing is why i am going for a 150 amps battery because my usage is limited only 1 fan and 1 light thats enough for us , now as far as where i get the rates from , i taken rates from aisha manzil filco battery , and water pump amir battery dealers they both are well known and very famous shops in my area but havent said that they both are telling me to get ags not exide and ags is 1000 rupees expensive than exide aswell .

i mean there should be the difference of price in different locations but i am sure difference would be minor .

try to find i saw some batteries in transparent body too which looks nice

also try to find price of maintainance free batteries, i think of same range

i hav no idea OF AMIR SHOP BUT I THINK WATER PUMP MARKET will have beeter option & discount, best of luck

I would like to thank specially TalhaWaleed, Xulfiqar, Juadjee and all people who contributed to this thread. You all have saved me from destroying my hard earned money, just to replace batteries as a they are an year old.

I had been facing poor backup time with my batteries (Osaka 150Amps purchased in July-2010), batteries refused to stay at backup for more than 30 minutes. Everybody, recommended me to replace battery by saying,
' Sir jee aj kal batteryan bus aik saal bhee mushkil say chalti hain , ab ap nayee laga dain '
I was & am confident that nothing is wrong with my ups as i am using APC (american branded ups for computers, which is being used with lead acid batteries). So, just wandering around Pakwheels, saw this thread and read complete 11 pages in one go. After that I decided to give it a try. And as a result, backup time of ups regained to 2 hours. Moreover, it is working perfect as we have total 10 hours of loadshedding in 24 hrs, with the interval of 3 hours). UPS is now working very fine.

One thing i need to know, the procedure i followed right now was to charge batteries for 24 hours (ups closed), and then flushed it with luke warm water several times shaking and draining etc. Atleast 10 times, i flushed and drained with plain water. But in end, some blackish liquid was coming out. Then I filled 1270 sg acid prepared in distilled water and kept battery on charging for 24-30 hours. Backup time is more than double now.

Question is, If I repeat the process with epsom salt solution (like explained earlier in this thread), will it worth it? or not to flush again to quick?

I am glad to hear that you have experience a difference in backup time. Procedure required for Espiom Salt requires filling the battery with distilled water and then putting Espiom Salt inside it. Then charging the batteries for 3-4 hours @ 7-12 AMPS. I have avoided this procedure because you will require total of 30 liters of distilled water in this procedure because first you will use 15 liters for filling the batteries with Espiom Salt and then use another 15 liter for preparing Sulphuric Acid. This procedure will become very expensive or time consuming for you because of producing distilled water on such a large quantity.

Dont you feel like kicking them square in the sack and saying (censored) apne karobaar mein to adl (justice) karo.

People used to laugh when I tried to start a big diesel with some old smallish Exide battery (batteries), Once it angrily spun the starter and the engine started I used to laugh at them.

HEY - we should contact these battery manufacturers to pay us for making their products work..

Acquiring distilled water, acid and epsom salt is not an issue. I want to know if i go thru this process, will it add value to battery performance or not.

I have never tried Espiom Salt but it surely has been recommended by many. Since you are done with the procedure don’t do it for second time. If ever you want to try this then do it after 7-8 months once you will experience decrease in backup time.

From now on ward maintain your gravity and always use distilled water.

Please tell me from where do you procure Sulphuric Acid (Pindi/Isb) and how much quantity of concentrate will be sufficient to treat 2 nos. 105amps batteries. just in case i am not successful making my own distilled water, is there any source in the market as well?

Brother, I am not afraid once you will produce distilled water in home but I am afraid once you will mix distilled water with Sulphuric Acid. Very dangerous procedure which requires a lot of precaution. I think you should consult a expert to do it for you once you have distilled water ready.

I purchased Sulphuric Acid from Acid shop in Pir Wadhi near battery shop. You will have to search a little bit.

I have been a science student and can recall alot of mischief in chemistry labs while O & A levels and during our engineering days....i think i am familiar with the gravity of the hazard and can handle that....i do have a few PPE's which will be put to use...

What about the distilled water....from where can i get it in bulk with an assurance tooo..(bit lazy of me)...last time i had asked my cousin to fetch some from his chemistry lab but since he has graduated his A levels so that source is killed for now :).

HOW DO YOU GET DISTILLED WATER

Have a look at the above video posted, it is very easy to produce distilled water. You will require your mothers pressure cooker. AC coil which will act as Radiator or Condenser inside the tub and plastic pipes attached with copper pipes which will bring steam from pressure cooker to AC coil dipped in tub water and the again plastic pipe attached with other end of ac coils which will further divert the distilled water into the second container. Use small screw clips to tighten the contact points of plastic pipe with Ac coils dipped in cold water and again to secondary plastic pipe attached at other end. Hang the plastic pipe emerging from the pressure cooker to some high point to avoid any contact with the pressure cooker. Fill pressure cooker with water and then heat the water. If system has no leakage then losses should be minimum. Against 6 liters of water in pressure cooker you should get round about 5.5 liters of distilled water. You must be thinking that I will have to run the pressure cooker for a very long time in order to produce this much amount of distilled water but remember that this is the only way and no one in the world can reduce the cost of burning gas involved in the procedure. During this procedure you will have to remove the heated water from tub many times and will have to refill it with cold water due to heat exchange process. Few days back I have produced 15 liters of distilled water within 1 day but had to tun the pressure cooker nonstop from morning till night and had to make sure that pressure cooker does not goes dry

i followed ur suggested procedure and prepare electrolyte for new my battery(about 2 months age).when i prepared that its gravity was 1270.but now all the cells shows about 1200.previously the back up time was 2 hours with 370watt load but now its backup time is 2 hours with 250 watt load.Now please suggest me should i top up the battery with electrolyte instead of simple deionized water untill it regains the 250+ gravity?
i've also flushed my car battery which was about to die but now its working good.

I have Osaka 150 Battery...I purchaised it in jun-2010..Now the back up of battery is 2.5 Hours on one fan and one energy saver....Please tell what to do to improve the "Back up time" Second We have steam boiler here in our factory..can we use condensste water as distilled water...

I think your first battery is UPS battery.

First verify the current charging current------ may be battery is unable to charge its self before the next load shedding arrives.
Secondly verify the cut off voltage before the battery stops charging. It should be 14 Volts for one battery and 28 Volts for two batteries connected in series. ----- Number of possible scenarios can occur such as UPS disconnects charging once voltage is where between 13 Volts for UPS which runs on 1 battery.
If you detect the problem with any of the above points then you don’t have to top up your battery with further acid. Kindly report all these results once you experience any problem.

Well you can use this distilled water in car batteries and to prepare mixture of Sulphuric Acid plus distilled water as described in thread.
This is a very wage statement that my batteries are not working properly and what should I do. Problem can be because of any reason and multiple factors have to be looked in before someone can actually point out the exact problem. Please always report

1) Gravity of each cell
2) Current charging rate of the batteries
3) Cut off voltage before UPS actually stop charging the batteries.
4) How old is your battery.
5) Any previous history of abuse.
