i am thinking to flush my battery with new electrolyte But how to get acid from them apart from link (as you had)
Go on brother talk to them .... u can get it urself, they seemed reluctant but its of no issue at all !!!! or there are many chemical shopes at college road pindi ....
brother, u can run it on ups but its all depends on your backup system and load. Issue isn't of its load, it can be managed but the fan motor could be damaged with use over ups (i burned twice last summer with desi ups), i have 2 lahorie coolers running on ups, each on start up take approx 0.9 Amp and latter after few seconds 0.6 amp approx ! A ceiling fan takes about 0.9 on startup and latter 0.5 amp.
Disconenct the water pump of your cooler and connect Rs 500 Chinese water pump of acquream, it require approx 18 watts (same as of a energy savor). it will minimize the load on wapda as well as on ups .....
Tube lights of normal coke system (full size) single rod takes like 45-50 watts but consumes more on start up like aroun 75 !!! Better use electronic chokes in which the starter is removed ! they are ups friendly ! (I might be wrong as i am no expert) !!!!
can you tell me how much acid will i need for a large battery? i have phoenix ugs-175 (130amps)
Also a side question, i have inverex 1kva ups. It seems to be trickle charging the battery at 13.68v constant. I know its a good thing for battery but shouldn't it stop after some time? its been a full night now and voltage is still at 13.68
130 amp battery might needed 6 liters of electrolyte, though i am not sure ..... please confirm from battery shop, or measure it uself at the time of flush by pouring normal tap water after draining the old acid while rinsing !
Trickle charging is good, do check how much amperes the battery consuming, if they are more then 1-2 amps, then its not trickle charging, it means the battery is unable to achieve 14 volts (upper cut off) (Batt Full cut off) as per manual and ups is still struggling to achieve that volt to cut of charging. Consult the user manual for that !!!! do check the SG of battery and check if its warm or hot !!!!
will check it with clamp meter tonight once i get home back. But battery was not warm at all, not even bubbles were forming much.
if it actually is trickle charging, my question is that does the ups keeps trickle charge the battery all the time? or does it stops after some time.
I am sorry i don't have manual and i couldn't find it online either
so tht means,,,ceiling fan and fan motor of lahori room cooler consumes almost same amount of electricity!!!!!!!!
I have no idea about trickle chargers keep charging or stop after a while .......
Almost same, or u can say a little higher for a medium sized lahorie cooler but the full sized fan of lahore cooler takes approx 2 ceiling fans load alone .....
the cut-off voltage for my ups is 14.3v, after that it holds the battery at 13.6v and i measured current it was 0.5A at start and in the morning it was 0.25A.
I think its not bad for battery right? because current is very low (probably equal to battery's natural discharge rate)
Its working perfect ! just keep the water level in battery intact with distilled water (not tap water or ac discharged water) ! Inn Sha ALLAH you would be fine .....
my hydrometer is giving 1200 on reading even when battery is full. Should i consider flushing it? or perhaps hydrometer is not working correctly? i wonder how do i confirm if hydrometer is working correctly
i have zero meter battery approx 1 month old, its also having 1200 sg when full and approx 1150 when discharged approx 50% .... i asked few people and they said its fine . no issue, if its giving proper voltages on terminals while charging, standing idle and discharging ..... so i believe there is nothing to worry ..... 1200sg is little lower , below 1220sg i read some where its harmful for battery but i have no solid reason to suspect !!!! could be a hydro meter flaw !!!! take average of approx 3-4 readings of same cell !!!!
TALHA, I WAS THINKING THT DO U KNOW SOME DIGITAL CIRCUIT FOR DESI TYPES OF UPS WHICH CAN BE INSTALLED IN DESI UPS AVAILABLE IN THE MARKET AND THROUGH WHICH WE CAN CONTROL ALL THE REQUIRED CURRENTS etc FOR THE BATTERY/UPS FUNCTIONS. I MEAN IT WOULD BE EASY FOR A COMMON MAN TO OPERATE AND ADJUST THE UPS THROUGH DIGITAL CIRCUIT/DISPLAY,,,,FOR REFERENCE IM PASTING THE LINK OF ANOTHER FORUM ie., Desi UPS, 500 watts circuit. - Engineering Corner - WiredPakistan :: A Pakistani Tech forum UR COMMENTS AND ADVICE ON THE ISSUE WILL ENLIGHTEN US ALL,,,REGARDS....
Why do you need an external circuit, Charging current is controlled on few Desi UPS through transformer which has three internal loops for different currents, disengaging one wire and connecting other changes the charging rate.
Recently I have changed a UPS card on my office pc, which has a variable which controls the charging rate as this specific UPS does not had an option to control the charging rate from the transformer as one installed in my home has that option.
You just need to go to the UPS market and ask them to change the PCB board on UPS to one from which you can change the charging rate. They have this new card in market for desi UPS and I bought this for Rs 2300 including labor charges, little expensive as I did not had time to search the market for better price.
You need to measure the specific gravity of water first as that is 1000. If that gives a right reading then your reading of electrolyte is right.
Specific gravity will normalize after two weeks as that will give ample time for acid to mix with water uniformly in battery and also if load shedding is not very frequent then you can consider reducing the charging rate for time being as it may help removing sulfation from battery like I have adjusted the charging rate to 5 Amperes these days on two 220 AMP-HR batteries.
If still specific gravity does not rises then maybe electrolyte that you have prepared was not properly adjusted but anyway if C.G is same on all the cells then there is nothing to get worried about.
As variation in C.G between different cells highlights the problem.
well infact i want following mentioned below readings to be visible on some LCD screen so that i can adjust the UPS if required.....1. Battery is being charged with how much charging rate?2. How much battery power left?3. How much time or amperes left till battery will be fully charged?4. How much more ampere load battery can take?
may be my questions seems silly but thts wat came to my mind,,,,and if there is some PCB board which can support above mentioned or little more readings then plz do share.....
These variables needs to be adjusted on local UPS system via variables on top of PCB card. I donāt recommend that you touch them as your knowledge on subject matter seems less.
Rest, thread is self explanatory, every question has been repeatedly answered.
