Great idea Arsalan bhai that material would have been perfect for the kicks.

I was thinking about using fleece for the kick panels. 2 coats of resin would have done the job without the need for the glass mat, but was too lazy to go to the cloth market. As for the tweeter pods i have a similar, stretchable material in mind which is also light weight

fleece is not as stretchable. the other material is very stretchable and will give you nice smooth contours. three coats of mat will be good enough for mids and tweeter pods. for mid bass, you would need more.

Kick panels complete. This is how they look after the paint job.

Fiberglassed the A-pillars yesterday for the tweeters.

I Cut the hole for the tweeter pods, glued the MDF rings to the A-pillars after aiming them.

Used toothpicks and glued them to the rings and A-pillar, so that they hold everything in place until the FG dries. You can also use wooden sticks or pencils for holding the structure in place.

Applied a stretchable cloth over it with the help of GMSA glue (elfy).

Applied a coat of resin over the cloth from outer and inner side.

After the resin was a dry, I applied a layer of glass mat + resin over it ( sorry, forgot to take the picture). FG work done here, the A-pillars are now sent to the painter for getting painted.

Didn't you have to create a structure using some kind of bondo/polygate/filler before coating it with resin? I'm not sure how the resin mould will hold the MDF rings in place with just toothpicks providing the structure?

Not necessarily, when you apply resin to a cloth it dries and becomes stiff. Also the resin attaches itself to the MDF making everything a single structure. The toothpicks are only there so that the MDF ring stays in place and the aiming does not change when you apply cloth and resin over it. BTW i removed the toothpicks when the resin was dry. You can also give another coat of resin/ mat from the inside for making it stronger.
