the USA is filled with crappy slap job con artists - literally tons and tons of them. Bodywork is the worst where you get druggies etc.
anyway - I saw that general denter/painter in Pakistan used very primitive tools and never wanted to learn new techniques or actually invest in other tools like clamps etc, Even their acetylene rigs are downright dangerous but they dont care. You may find one or two who actually want to work to a higher level and if shown the correct way they pick up real quick and do their best. The rest who are just "daily living" it dont care.
And as I always say - if you think a project or swap is cool - do only if you can actually turn spanners yourself and have no problems in diving into mechanical work. If your workshop lives in your wallet in the form of ATM cards or bank notes then consider something else to spend time on.
