Don't use your fingers to open it ! you will strip the gears. There is a button which says ''OPEN'' on the right side of the screen , press it once to open the screen , press it again to close it.

Mine doesn't have that unfortunately. Mine is a custom Pioneer screen. I don't see any open close button the side, weirdly enough. And one more thing, I have checked the oil level it seems pretty low. Should I buy the Castrol in the morning and put in a little, or you think it would be safe to drive a km or so to get the oil change? I am confused.

That depends on how low the oil level is , i personally would never drive if the oil level was anywhere near the MIN mark on the dipstick. Use another car , buy the castrol oil and put in a little bit at a time till the level is in the middle , after that you can drive and change the oil.

If it was a normal car there wouldnt be any problem driving it with low oil but since the 13B-MSP engine injects a little bit of engine oil and burns it i wouldnt risk it.

Do you know what premixing is?

BTW - If you could snap a pic of the pioneer screen i might be able to help you on that.

Premixing will keep your engine nice and lubricated , the problem is that the engine oil used to lube up the side seals and apex seals that oil is not designed to burn therefore it leaves alot of carbon deposit inside the engine , and trust me too much carbon inside the engine is the last thing you will want. What you can do is pour 100ml of good quality 2stroke oil (i.e Shell ) inside the tank before filling it upto full. But that's just insurance incase the OMP fails to deliver the amount of oil needed. However the carbon buildup issue will still be there.

This will make your engine last alot longer and help with cleaning it up a bit on high revs. Don't worry its perfectly safe.

Alright. Thanks for all the help. I will see what I can do tomorrow. Hopefully more people would have left their advice by tomorrow morning. I am off to bed now. I think, I am going to stick to the North American manual for most things for now, as it makes things a lot easier.

always give your time to warm up when you start it, before you take it out on a drive, when you are back....give it time to cool down before you shut the engine off.

keep checking and re-filling the engine oil as needed (specially in this heat check it frequently)

also use high quality coolant.

i did, but my car was auto, do you know the difference between the performance of 1jz and an auto 8?
or pretty much any stock rx8 and 1jz?

If you race a stock 6 speed 13b-msp rx8 and a 1jz rx8 in a straight line obviously the 1jz would win but around a bendy track the 13b would win because of the weight which is devided 50% back and 50% front.

Do you have any idea about the weight difference between a 13b-msp and a 1jz?

13b-msp : 122kg (unmodified)
1jz : around 230kg and thats without trans

The people at mazda who designed the rx8 arent stupid they did the 50 - 50 weight split because that was appropriate for the car it would cause less wear on specific parts on the car.

And yes i also know about the traction problems and bump steer you get .....from a 1jz rx8

I have a car with 1jz-gte and guess what its not a rx8

Now did i say anything bad about your car? i totally agree with you it's your money you can do whatever you want with your car. I am just talking generally about why mazda manufactured this car , its purpose was never to go fast in a straight line.

But ask any ''pakistani'' they will say alteration is never better than genuine .

BTW i can see the reason for you to swap a 1jz in your car because auto 8's never got the opportunity to clean out the built up carbon from the engine , as one could never redline an auto 8 properly.

if you ever visit isb let me know, i will show you my car then tell me what you think pakwheels is infested with stories of rx8's that have had swaps from peshawar where firewall was hammered to fit the engine and what not, while my cars firewall is intact.

I have searched everywhere in Lahore, but haven't found Castrol GTX. Can anybody tell me where to get one, and it's original oil filter? Please, pretty please.

You don't strictly need to get castrol gtx , any other Real oil besides synthetic will do just fine. You wont find a original oil filter , i used the oil filter for a mazda van but that only temporary used it for like 100km while i was waiting for my original oil filters to arrive. But yea an oil filter from this van below will work as it is almost the same, its no big deal anyway because the only job of a oil filter is to filter oil. It wont blow up the car. And im dead serios , use it for 300km then chuck it away and get a new one.

Just go to Ferozepur Road and ask someone about nadeem filter house , they have the correct oil and filter

INH is ok too but they make up alot of extra B.S .....they are crocodiles.

I think, I will leave the old one in and just change the oil with the old oil filter. Will order new ones from abroad instead.
