how much both cars are driven as it will make difference. Altis with low mileage will be slow than oriel with 10-15k.

I would suggest to change drivers as well

Confirm whether Saad (Grande) was:

1. In M mode triptronic or D mode ???
   2, Milage as compare to Nousher's Civic X??

From standstill it was in M
Roll on start it was in D

About mileage i wll have to ask but its 2016 pre FL grande as far as i know must be above 15k kms easily

By the way what happens if you dont change the gear and keep flooring it in M1 ?? I think it will change gear as soon as it hits 6500 rpm or the red line No ??

At higher speed it's probably the aero working. Civic seems more aerodynamic and it sits lower than the grande.

Coz i saw saad driving Carnival in M mode thats why i asked....

I got defeated by even 9th Gen when i got Grande.... i was with the wrong thinking that M mode will be for drag racing but i was wrong....

M mode or paddle shifters are for gear breaking....

The torque vanishes as the rpms goes higher..... the car really feels torqueless.....

Thats the reason Grande lost the drag race as oriel X started with a better torquey launch as compare to Grande....

Even i lost the same with a camry during rolling with my Turbo but after after making S3 back to S it caught and covered the gap which camry hybrid gave initially...

Its not about defending the Grande.... its about engineering clarification....

As an example i lost race with a friend.... we had identical Honda Citys all stock.

1. Mine 16k kms his 30k kms.
2. Mine 195/60 R15 his 175/65R15.
3. We were 2 weighing total 160kg where as he was alone 104kg.
4. I was having PSO while he was having Caltex at that time...
5. I was having more than half tank and he was having last quarter.

Sir you havent answered my question , what will happen if you put it in M1 then floor it and dont change the gear using paddle shift or gear lever ( + ) will it continue to go in M1 like a manual tranny car or will it automatically upshift ??

When I had Altis 1.8 Cruisetronic SR back in 2011/2012
It used to change gear automatically even if it was in tip tronic mode / manual mode
If for example we dont upshift while flooring it in 2nd gear , its not like, that it will continue hitting the red line and wont upshift automatically ..it will upshift to 3rd gear
Similarly if we put it in manual mode ( talking about prev model here ) and upshift it to 4 , and then start moving the car from a standstill or 0 km/hr it will not start moving in 4th gear it will however show 4 in the cluster but it will go in 1st gear then 2nd then 3rd and finally 4th

About Grande i dont know
But as far as i remember the manual book tells similar story
If you dont upshift it will automatically go in M2 so I dont think there would be any lag as such
Correct me if i am wrong

And by the way even in D grande lost ! Not just here but i have tried it twice last year too
Anyway dont want to start any debate here ..
I dont like any of them to be honest ! 1.5 turbo is still my Love !

Yap you are right M1 will automatically be shifted to M2 and onwards.....

But again.... you will get the max torque in D which should be utilized as a launch control....

It is a CVT which gives optimum pull in D... when revs got higher torque decreases and here comes the bhp in action which is again less.....

Corolla plays with better power to wt ratio and torque.... if you remove torque than corolla

Regarding rolling start in D .... well the overall slugnishness of Grande puts questions i shared above....

Although you know i am 1.5T user now but my previous experience and encounters with Oriel X when having Grande was just like people used to say....

Or may be i was a continuous HOBC user mostly Total from day 1 in Grande.... and it means a lot even in NA engines
