One thing i wanna say though i am not a big fan of Euro Mehran but fuel consumption of this cat is hell good..last week i travelled around 1000+ km on it and the average was 21+ with AC on Partially (in the day time).So i recommend no need to install cng init minus those 40thousand rupees

Ah I was expecting this reply. But how can I neglect with I see Euro II Mehran on CNG fitting centers. I can't comment on other cities, but here in Multan at Khanewal Road you can easily ask CNG centers that how many Euro II they have installed with CNG.

Well it depends on person to person as well. Some people don't even install CNG in CIVICs but some people do who has high daily drive. But whenever CNG is installed then Min 40,000 expense it must

A Mehran (right in front of my house) ran into the side walk hardly 1 foot in height. It turned into a VW beetle, i saw i in the morning and the driver was severely injured (as per the talk on the road).

The problem is that the built quality is poor that when it hits something, the front wheels move back towards the pillar. The pillar is apparently so soft that it twists along with the Chassis and the whole structure falls apart.

The newer models, which sometimes use similar gauge sheets and material respond differently to impacts. Its because they have been reengineered over and over to channel the force of impact to the back of the car keeping passengers safe.

Mehran is an 80s model structure which is now being manufactured with much inferior material. Thats the reason its becoming increasingly unsafe.

Please stay away from this death trap.
There are plenty of other options in this range. I wouldnt spent 700k on a mehran with a gun to my head. I'd wait another year and save up for a used swift for 950k.

Dude, appreciate your comments. You are right I guess everyone knows about the build quality of Mehran or I must say all suzuki cars. But I'm afraid here we are discussing the prices not the quality or any comparison between JDM or Local cars, otherwise this thread will divert to a new direction (Hope you understand)

I didn't said that specifically you mentioned JDM. Initially JDM was discussed in this thread so I said it as precautionary. Anyways you are right that, such price should offer quality and safety. And not only quality and safety but other accessories too. The point in this thread is hidden charges and in Mehran believe me you have to put basic "Mud Flaps" from your own pocket

good you realize and come to 7 Lacs, but statistically its 7+ Lacs with basic neccessities. Definitely the current price is too expensive and if based on previous pattern then it may increase again.

You are right. None of the local cars deserve the price tags they carry. but atleast toyota and Honda are making good quality cars and are reliable for years n years. I ve seen APL 4 cultus and alto break down. a friend's 14000kms cultus had to undergo an open heart surgery to fix the leaking valve seals. 14000kms!!! n that guy paid 1 million pkr for that car! i begged him not to get a cultus, instead get a used honda or toyota but he thought "brand new" is better. Now he regrets doing that!

Instead of ad-ons, CNG etc, just add insurance. I paid 17,000 (invoice price was 637,000 for VXR in January) for insurance and my car was hardly 300 kms driven when it hit the median while saving a speeding motorcyclist. Rim, suspension, shocks, fender were replaced and bumper was painted as it got lot of scratches only. Total cost was 29,000 rs +, but I got my car back in showroom condition again from Suzuki 3S workshop, just for 800 rs (depreciation cost only).

What can we really do?In fact many of the current owners are really happy when they see the prices hike eh..count me in too, but its very unfortunate that its price is like this.Its all because of the poor Governance,the chipmunks on the hot seats have allowed them to rule the way they are, they are assembling crap in the name of mehran with the insane price tag.Nothing hasbeen changed in this car since 90,s.It has only degraded,they are going for quantity and compromising on quality, the dashboard quality,the body quality,the paint quality,the bumper quality ,everything hasbeen degraded.Once you buy this car with the price tag they have mentioned, then be prepared to spend around 50k on cng kit,20k for rims tires(because the general tires they provide are very dangerous),seat covers(if you won't put on new covers then am sure the original seat covers will be ripped off) ,you have to have buy these things.
The prices in Pk are insane from all the car manufactures but at least corolla,civics come up with something decent every year not like mehran which is still like it used to be in 80,s.

Its not the only choice, u can get a passo in this much amount.. Most possibly the worst car manufactured in Pakistan is Suzuki Mehran. Not just in terms of quality, which was compensated for with the low price it was once offered for, but now it is certainly not a cheap car and I do not know anyone who could afford one on purely cash without getting the bank involved. But the thing is that we deserve to be ripped off by local auto-assemblers (not manufacturers) until we show some resistance to them. The 1980's design will no safety features, still has got leafsprings, even no basic feautures like CD player & AC. For the brakes, i would say they are very strong when you push the padal to stop the car it refuses(i cant do this bro please dont push me)...
If u open the front wheel,u will see the disc and tie rod a u will be amazed to see that only 4 bolts are keeping both wheels in same direction and this rod is fitted with 4 bolts. In suzuki Mehran there is only one lower ball joint, which easily gets out if the tyre bumps up and down above normal speed like 80 to 100 kmph there are chances the ball side of it gets out and wheel turns which could cause major accident.
Pak Suzuki says Solution for your Family. I call it Coffin on wheels, not a single thing in this car is good nor tested. No doubt driving this vehicle above 70 / 80 kmph is insanity. 7,00,000 and there you go, you got A COFFIN ON THE WHEELS

Bhai 100% agree that it is worst car with no security and no features since it came into this world. and about the accidents, BRO, when time is up, then it is up on Land Cruiser or Hummer as well. so bus Allah pak karam karain. Gari Mehran ho ya Land cruiser us say koi faraq nai.

Regarding i have options of Passo, i dont have 8 lac to spend on something which i have no idea of parts and services. for spare parts isi kay sastay hain, jo kay affordable bhi hain.

You've added 16,000 for "Alloys and Soft tyres". A person going for a mehran will never think think of changing their car's tyre until it is used up to it's life, Unless the person has alot of spare money.
CNG is rarely available and the new EFi Mehran give's a pretty good average aswell. Also, new CNG kits are not imported now either. Freight charges also vary from city to city.
I'm not saying that Paksuzuki is doing a great job, but they're doing what they can. I mean, A single dollar now cost's nearly 100 rs. Also, there is no competition for mehran either. New companies need to come in and give Pak Suzuki some tough competition.

a) Mehran is a common mans car.

b) A person who buys a mehran it is either its first ever car or a shopping car only.

c) No vehicle can beat a mehran when it comes to maintainence (jab kuch hai hee nae to kharab kya hoga)

d) Yes the quality is pathetic, In that price JDM options are many, But their is something known as brand new, warranty, peace of mind for 3 years (minimum 3 years the engine wouldnt bug you).

e) Jis tarah ke costs apne lagai hain (insurance, Registration, CNG, Audio, New tires,) Yeh sab to ager ap 1 crore ki gari mei bhee kerainge to uski bhee final cost berh jaegi, When you buy a mehran ur need is a car not a Mercedece tires, or a Highfi sound system.

Im in no way related to Paksuzuki, If i had to buy a car Mehran would be the last car that id buy, But for a 50 year old uncle, a single mother, a young student, a young newly married couple whos just starting a family with very low income.

any one who has a zillion things to take care of, cannot goto mechnaics buying a 2001 Corolla/Civic/City/Sunny every day a brand new mehran with trouble free 3 years is a very good and currently the only choice.

Yes several JDM's, Old sedans are avalible but you never know what come maybe. With a Mehran God forbid something goes wrong you can get it fixed hand to hand rather then cutting ur monthly grocery budget and fixing the 2001 Civic.

Think practical.

Who ever needs the features Poster mentioned and doesnt wants to go for a Mehran, Can go buy certified used cars aswell, Other then that ur left with gambling in to a JDM or else ur stuck buying a Mehran

Humble Request: PLEASE stay on topic & don't bring JDM vs Local or anything like that, for this purpose there are many threads on Pakwheels already. This thread is created to aware "HIDDEN" costs of car which a customer needs to pay. And PakSuzuki (and dealers/investors) still claims that "Oh jee bas 650,000 ki New Mehran hai". They simply ignore/hide the huge amount of additional Rs. 127,000/- which a poor customer need to spend later.

Thoose hidden costs are associated with every car, EXfactory price and on-road prices varry around the world,

With a brand new car you can delay adding accesories its not that you cannot drive the car without such things,

for you and All others who are saying this topic is biased or why should we need add Alloys etc, then please read the first two lines of my starting post, its says "So to get price idea I thought better to check the new Mehran's current cost with all my car's accessories" So I was comparing my car's current condition & accessories with "Brand New" one and were looking to know much new car will cost with these accessories. And the total price turned out to be Insane.

And the prices I mentioned are 2-3 years old.
