Mehran Or Chevy Joy/exclusive help to decide

Yar plz khuda ka wasta jan chor do crappy mehran ki...engine 1983 wala sirf efi ka addition, wo b iss saal, interior 1983 fx say b pathetic...no quality, AC cant work upto reasonable standard.

I dnt know why people always start thinking about its re sale even before buying, if u wana do a business with chevy ,then its nt feasible, but i u wana keep it for home use, no comparison with mehran.

I couldnt understand what is the point in keeping yourself in trouble, being wet in sweat and giving company to the mechanics every weekend throughout the tenure u keep mehran...... just to satisfy your soul that it has a good resale?

And most important, If your car is in extra ordinary nick, it will be sold, whatever the brand is, there is always buyers for mint cond cars ir respective of brand.

is mehengai mei sirf yahee aik bechari humara saath day rahee hai.... interior aur engine chahy 1901 ka kyon na ho.. ghareeb or middle class tabqa kum us kam gari to rakh sakta hai....

jis din ghar ka ata daal , aur ashiyay kay bhaoo , monthly budget sur pay ayay ga... khud ba khud samajh ajaye ge mere pyaray... mehran ka jadooo. resale to baad ki baat hai... monthly maintenance.... i can gaurantee this car will never let you down provided you treated nicely the same way you treat you civics , corollas etc.... problem is we abuse them like sautans and then leave them to the mercy of guddo mechanic jo har visit per us kay saath aik nayee suhag raat manata hai.... bhai majority people in pak cannot even afford a mehran..... this is a dream for them... i have 6 different mehrans in my freinds circle and one in my fleet which i got brand new.... i tell you its been a wonderful experiance... since i drive it the same way i pamper my reborn... thats the same way i pamper my cuore and charade and the old 88 fx.... none of the cars give us any problem.... na to mehran kay ac say koi shikayat na petrol run , na cng run , it goes to dealership . who are honest and take perfect care of her..

i have driven and kept a friends chevy exclusive for some time.... i was simply amazed with the response , the comfort level , the design , the feul consumption ... perfect in every day.... sadly it went into the wrong hands for marketing and met the fate of other korean brands.

In pak... only toyota , honda and suzuki will prevail... they will never ever let anyone come in their way.... its a cartel... and they dominate the market.....

now the handful of enthusiasts will appreciate the riskier yet amazing offerings like joy , classic , spectra , sportage and the likes

bottom line " if you can maintain it , have the access to the right workshop , forget the resale like i did with my charade , then i welcome you to enjoy this lil wonder"

Dear bro, you are right that its spare parts are v cheap in price and so is the reason that people can afford it, but at the same time the quality of these parts are also cheap according to their price and they are not able to last long, for sure.

You end up in spending huge amount after a month on its maintenance.

You as you mentioned maintain your car through dealership, and you will agree that the price of spate parts at dealership is no where close to ordinary mkt price.

Secondly when it comes to major repair or replacement, suzuki is always, i repeat ALWAYS high in maintenance, like Eng assembly of khyber is for 45-50 k, mehran's 40-50k, where as chevy's avail for 10-20k, civic 95 for 20-35k....and so on, i have many more examples ...... but i think leave the debate...jin ko mehran pasanad, Allah unhain mehran mubarak karay and same with the chevy fans.

the quality of these parts is surely pathetic and in no way cheap. A friend of mine recently replaced the pathetic ac switch circuit (mind it circuit only) suzuki charged him 2500 for the cheap plastic circuit.... with no warrenty... hopefully it will last long..... btw i gave the same thing to my electrician as to replace in another friends car... he cleaned it up and resolded the circuit for 150 only.. its working like a charm... told the 1st friend but his mentality is to replace the part where i kinda agree with him... atleast it wont burn out the wiring...

You end up in spending huge amount after a month on its maintenance if repaired . on replacement nope... obviously youve spent the premium on replacing the part... so very low chance of re replacement.. after all its a mechanical part.. anything goes..

Price of spare parts at dealerships is without a doubt sky high compared to after market copies... Hence the quality as well.... you can compromise on aesthetics like lights , bumper , meter etc however the engine parts , clutch , sensitive parts etc should always be genuine.. if not from pak suzuki then atleast from a reliable supplier.

Agreed not all parts of mehran are cheap as you mentioned Eng assembly 40-50k, where as chevy's avail for 10-20k, civic 95 for 20-35k....which is shockingly surprising and i hope you have confirmed the same.

Personally im not a fan of mehran and i can list a lot of things i hate about it especially the seats which give a healthy guy like me a backache... but its still the best daily runner car with cheapest maintainance and available technicians.....perfect for picking the kids from school , parking in tight spaces without the worry of mirrors getting stolen , bumpers getting broken and driver abusing (and i am pretty sure he does that when im not around). No matter how loyal they are , they enjoy screwing your car....

Thaks. will you kindly coment on parts cost of chevrolet vs others. I have asked Mr.Sebastian ex plant manager nexus karachi for some parts for reconditioning my chev 2004. You may like to recomend replacement of key parts in suspension and steering mechanism which if replaced may add value to car.

Dont ever go for dabba mehran, its better to buy a gadha gari. Suzuki manufacturers are making us fool and nothing else.
A request: Please Pakistanis groom your life style now, its time to move forward now and try some new things with better options. There can be a good big market for Chevrolet here in Pakistan, but we are always coward yeh na ho jaey woh na ho jaey.
Even if you go to buy a brand new Mehran, by spending so much money 5lac-7lac, you came back to home having just...

no quality for interior bad quality plastic material used,

Im living in RWP and spare parts are cheaper/less expensive than Cultus/Santro. And if engine heats up then just replace it. But in this small budget you are having luxurious ride and interior like toyota/city. Its best for normal mediocre man. And mechanics are common now here in ISB and RWP for it. This problem was old if go 4 yrs back. What you say...

I heard this car is having some problem with electronic circuit and also heating problem and ends up with replacement of engine due to desi mechanics are having low knowledge of EFI engines . How about replacement of engine with any other brand (Kabli) ?

why do u even take risk with such technologically advanced cars? In our part of the world you will only get a headache trying to maintain such cars. If you have the time , money and patience then go ahead. Mehran is not the best luxury option yet its the most practical option. Got mine brand new in 2010 and still love it for what it offers. The reason why mehran is hated by some is that they expect alot more from a car of its class. look for a cultus if u can , stay away from non market cars like chevy, kia , hyundai , adam and so many newer japanese used cars like the ek wagon , esse etc. perhaps the reason why i like mine is cause i got it brand new and kept it like a kitten. MASHALLAH no squeeks n no noise. smooth drive , amazing milage . decent ac though not the best. great daily driver. what more would i want for a daily runner...

Cultus will take more space and I am having very small parking space. I think there is no any harm to try some other brand like "Chevrolet Exclusive/joy" if users can confirm that its not giving any hard time in repair or finding any mechanic for this car.

Inshort its fantastic experience in terms of comfort, luxury, drive experience & all of this in low price. If your budget allows, go for Chevy Spark (latest model), its 800cc with best features, otherwise Joy at second number or if you have low budget like me, go for Chevy Exclusive. Try your best to buy the latest model.
