2.316 what does that mean?ive seen many mercs but always they are with their class and engine displacement written on left side.what does this 2.3-16 stands for.thanks to anyone who replies

There is one here in Islamabad,its 2.6 manual tranny maroon color 1993 model and auctioned by Russian embassy.I drove it years ago(and it was a real tornado)when it was for sale by some guy in Rawalpindi but then it was bought by simla cloth house owner.
There is another one in Lahore , i have seen it in DHA many times but , i never got a chance to take a close look at it , possibly a bodykit.
