get a W124 or stick with my w123...
Finally found a discussion that i like... not too much into rollas!
maybe one of you esteemed forum guys can provide your 2 cents;
i am looking to buy a w124, in islamabad, preferbaly v6/ traction control/abs/facelift years, as a daily driver. at the moment i have a w115 and a w123 (220D and 240D). i use the w123 regularly but the issue i have is the climate control. in these cold, wet wintery days the windows stay fogged-up almost all the time. i know some of that has to do with ineffective blower / erratic ducts etc. but some of it also has to do with dated machinery/design (its a 1979). summers are a similar story. since i havent driven anybody elses w123 i dont know what to compare (or benchmark) against. and also since i am not a big w123 fan i have decided to convert to a w124. the decision is not only based on climate control but GENERALLY I think the overall driving experience i.e. ease of use / safety / drivability / reliability / pep would be better.
can somebody answer in a smart manner. digging through this forum i realized that some of the members like Storm have Islamabad experience of these cars, which is of more value to me than say benzworld (which i like but its not the same as PW!!)
Now the question/s is;
1- what are the ergonomics like in a w124?
2- can i use a w124 as a daily driver, in the same manner that i use my Civic VTi
3- if i dont find a v6 are the four bangers worth considering?
4- i dont mind a diesel but i hate people on bicycles overtaking me so its got to be something with oomph. suggestions?
5- instead of a w124 should i be thinking of a w210? i am a bit wary of its electric/build quality reputation. not to mention budget wise it might not suit me.
NOT a huge C-class fan so i have to stick to E-class. maybe w126 but not w140.
so please PW gurus any feedback???
