As'salaam-o-Alaikum, I have a couple of questions regarding MG HS Turbo for car experts, its customers and enthusiasts. The questions mostly revolve around DCT. It is different from manual, A/T and CVT that us Pakistanis are mostly used to. From online research it seems it is not suitable for stop/go traffic conditions and is slightly a bit more complicated to operate on inclines and declines. Now, the questions are;
1. Do they (MG Motors Pakistan) offer any driving/teaching classes to their potential/verified buyers on how to use this new transmission in light of the road conditions prevalent in Pakistan?
2. What are the Do's and Don'ts of using DCT in stop/go traffic conditions? Traffic on Murree road, Islamabad highway during rush hours (8am-10am and 4pm-8pm) can sometimes slow down to under 10km/h. What is the recommended speed for DCT to maintain in such conditions, that over time it does not damage itself and how to drive in such conditions. A DCT is rated for approximately 300,000km+ and if operated incorrectly could give out anywhere between or before 10,000km-70,000km.
3. How to drive on an incline/decline if stuck in traffic? Pir Sohawa, Murree, and other hilly areas of Pakistan regularly experience traffic jams or slow traffic on the weekends; how to navigate those conditions without heating up the transmission and waking up all of the warning lights/sounds calling for the driver to park to one side until the transmission cools down for further operation?
4. KIA has put out some very useful videos for its N. American/European customers on how to drive a vehicle with DCT but I cannot seem to find any such content by MG Motors Pakistan. Are there any video tips available by the company on how to use their products safely and in a manner where their product can last its intended lifetime?
5. Should there be a need by the client to pre-order next maintenance/tune-up materials (air/oil filter, oil etc) or, are all fluids and parts readily available for existing and future orders?
6. MG HS transmissions available world wide;
6-speed manual
6-speed DCT
7-speed DCT
10-speed automatic
In Pakistan they are offering the 7-speed DCT version only. Any plans to introduce the 6-speed manual or the 10-speed automatic?
7. HS Turbo requires petrol of RON 97 grade; but some users are using Shell V Power (RON 95) with no issue. Have they (MG Motors Pakistan) identified any petrol stations in their respective dealers city whose petrol they would recommend for use with their turbo engine? Or have they left it up to the client to decide through trial and error which petrol station fuel is better for their six million (60 lac) investment (in MG Motors Pakistan)?
8. Seems like these DCTs are going to be a gold mine for all these new automakers if their customers do not operate them correctly. Or is it easy to operate a DCT just as an A/T, CVT and all my fears/observations listed above are baseless? Thank you.
