All the Chinese manufacturers came to Pakistan just because they knew they can fit large amounts of chrome and leather and sell their goods priced equal to (or above) japanese/korean offerings.

To all the people who have been using the car for months now, how is the experience?

Are you more satisfied with the car now then initially, or vice versa?

Is it true the fuel mileage gets better with time? How much can I expect in city?

One last question...which hi-octane petrol should I go for?? i.e shell, PSO, total, etc

Is Hi-Octane necessary for MG HS? Or it can be driven hassle free on regular fuel?

The absolute need for high octane, as its produces clear knock at regular fuel.
The not so smooth transmission at low speeds (a little more than other dcts)
A stiffer suspension compared to its competition.
A couple of warranty claims highlighted on social media that left the owners without vehicles for more than a month.

Plus I've personally heard the engine making a weird noise (probably alternator/water pump bearing) in a unit hardly 4 months old.
So the quality of materials is still questionable until we get a few reviews from owners having driven 50k + (which, in the case of Koreans are available for more than a few)

It literally says on fuel cap RON 95. Why would anyone want to outsmart the engineers who build the engine by using RON 91/92

The MG HS Plug-In Hybrid is the most powerful MG ever, producing 256 horsepower and 370 Nm torque. A 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and a 90 kW hybrid electric motor drive the car with a 10-speed automatic gearbox. Together, the hybrid powertrain can take the vehicle for up to 55 kilometers per liter.

For all the critics who have special concerns about the charging of EVs, hang on. The MG HS PHEV can be charged overnight via a home 7 kW fixed wall charger, taking approximately 5 hours. On top of that, the model has a regenerative braking system that means the battery recharges itself when the brakes are applied.

Some first impressions of MG HS after I have driven it for around 2 weeks:

CONS:

1. The suspension is more towards the stiffer side. I definitely prefer my Tucson ride quality if compared to MG.
2. The navigation screen is laggy which annoyed me a lot on the first two days but I got used to it pretty fast.
3. There is a slight DCT jerk in the transmission but that is not very noticeable and is highly exaggerated by some of the users.
4. The AC performance was not up to the mark on the sunny mornings of Lahore which came as a surprise to me.
5. The car I received had rust on the grill chrome and the door handles, when I inquired; the staff had no answer except that it has been parked at the port for a month so this was inevitable.

PROS:

1. The car is gorgeous in terms of both exterior and interior.
2. The materials used in the interior are of top-notch quality. It definitely, made me feel like I am sitting in a German Car.
3. The throttle response is quite good, even considering there is a small turbo lag.
4. The speakers are really nice, although I heard some people complaining about them maybe they didn’t adjust the equalizer properly.
5. The car is loaded with extra options and they work quite well in my experience till now.
6. The new meter and the ambient lighting are some of the features that I really enjoy.

I won’t be commenting on the Fuel Average as it is still too soon for me to give a verdict on that but it’s definitely not as bad as some people claim it to be.

MG HS delivered late and with defects.

I got my MG HS in September 2021 that was due in May 2021. I made a mistake by receiving it at night, my fear that if I don't collect it right away, they might give it to someone else instead, got the best of me. In the day time I noticed a few things that were a major put-off.

1. The chrome has some spots like rust on it all over the car, especially the front grill.
2. A plastic cover on the back viper was missing.
3. There was a small scratch on one corner of the rear bumper.
4. There is chipped paint on edge of the driver-side door.

I took it to a car detailing shop in Islamabad and they said the chrome cannot be restored. They were able to lighten the scratch but the rest of the issues cannot be resolved.

I have contacted MG Pakistan regarding it. Let's see what they say but the reason I am posting it here is to know how many more owners have seen such problems, especially the chrome one. And if anyone was able to get it fixed. Also, any suggestions about how to proceed with MG Pakistan regarding this would also be helpful. Some pictures are posted below.

Chrome rusting is because these cars remain on Karachi port for days & months.

It rains a lot in UK (where this car is being sold) and cars are often parked outside. How come their's don't rust?

Are you sure the tire air pressure is correct? They overinflate the tires during transport and often have "Transit/Suspension spacers" so that car suspension doesn't move too much when on the ship. Can you also share a pic of the tire's sidewall? I want to see the make/model of the tire and whether its a run-flat tire.

It was 40psi when I got the car. Driving on 34psi now which was recommended by them.

Civic's suspension wasn't too stiff, would you say this is more civic or more vezel because vezel's supension is unbearable for me. Also, what are the brakes like cuz I personally found Tucson brakes too squishy

Yes, I quite like my Civic's suspension and ride quality, provided the tires have been changed.
I own all of these currently Vezel, Tucson, and Civic and I can confidently say that the suspension is way better compared to Vezel and Fortuner (Drove my friend's car plenty of times) but not as good as Tucson and Civic.

Brakes are definitely better than Tucson though.
