Wow, I did not expect this. If it is a 100 car per day setup. Then kudos to them. The price should also normalize for a local MG then.
I'd love to be proven wrong by MG, if they are serious, I wish them well.

It takes a while to setup assembly plant. I've been to Sazgar factory in Sundar Estate and they are working on local assembly of BJ40 and Haval suvs

I was there last summer and was told that due to covid and supply chain issues its taking longer to setup assembly line. But they were aiming for production this summer. Not sure what the status is currently though.

Probably because initially everyone ordered white lol...now people are tired of white color and ordering black. Or maybe they are painting cars in batches of same color.

its a big plant. adjacent to it is heir industrial complex. financial muscle or long term business motivation shouldnt be a problem for MG

I've been a critic of MG (and especially Javed Afridi) but would love to eat my words if they manage to launch their local operations successfully.

In fact, if priced sanely (doubtful), MG 5 would be in consideration as my next car.

Hope someone, anyone gives much-needed competition to Atlas, Indus et al.
All new entrants failed so far. Esp dissapointed in Kia. Failed back-to-back launches of Sorento and Stonic. Hyundai doesnt seem interested in selling more than a few units. Maybe the whole thing was just a laundering operation

The same for me. Don't have any personal issues with MG or JA and would love to see local assembly and competition in the market.

This is an MG thread. You can check Proton's fb page and PW thread to see they 'love' they are getting from customers. The rest of the players are hardly making any noise and for me are non-existent. On the other hand Afridi sb makes the tallest claims, plays 'victim' to big 3 saazishein and teases abt Tesla when he can't deliver an MG. They claimed to have produced a local MG almost a year ago yet there is no sign of CKD deliveries even now. Proton is no better but at least they didn't claim local production until Jan this year. So the criticism is well earned. If they can make a recovery from here that'd be great, but so far they have been the shadiest and dirtiest player to happen to Pak auto industry.

Also, let's not forget the thousands of CBU imports while other entrants are allowed to legally import 100-200 units only. And the under-invoicing and duty stealing. The list goes on....

Someone making a video doesn’t prove much.

If they can deliver local cars not only HS but Gloster, Mg3/5 AND price it properly

That will be the only win.

If they introduce local cars and are pricing them super expensive, that’ll be worse than Toyota/Honda.

Why?

Because they claim to fight the “big 3”, yet the HS is massively overpriced already.

And, they’re also Chinese. Beat the established brands in pricing and features both, then it’s their game.

I really like the MG Gloster.
Local unit, and one that doesn’t require Hi octane, beating Oshan X7 in price wil be my choice.

You really live in the "ideal" world (I used to be the same a year back, but understood the ground realities)
MG Gloster (comes with 2.0L turbo and the size of prado) cheaper than Oshan . That would translate to MG HS being 4.5mil in today's money.
Gloster, IF ever introduced, would be around 7mil atleast (according to today's market levels)

The sooner you accept the realities, the more at peace you'll feel.

For them to sell at a good price , a lot of localization is needed. CKDs are still very expensive , so yes there will be quality compromise but the prices could then be in the acceptable range.
