Well what will happen in a couple of years when tehreek e 'insaf' goes? Are they going to charge 101st customer onwards full duty then, or seize their vehicles?

I was very fascinated by MG5, but for now I'll stick with Alsvin. Furthermore I think people should support Changan and prince for their sedan/SUV needs, after finding out what they are doing is wrong and still giving them money, that hard earned money becomes black and haram.

I dont know about u guys but I fear what's gonna happen in the end, so I'll stay away...

As I have said before, there is no duty beyond what has already been paid at import. According to the documents available, they are paying full duty, not the reduced one for first 100 CBU's. It is the Invoice price mentioned at import, which is the question here. For that only the importer is responsible, not the person who buys it from them.
For the buyer, the concern will be whether they will get after sales service, and warranty support 1, 2 or 5 years from now. For imported vehicles, it is relatively easy to wrap up business and call it a day, and leave the users high and dry. Those who have invested in a manufacturing / assembling facility have a lot more at stake and would not be running away any time soon. They have ROI in mind.

What do we mean by people have to "support" changan etc. Morally yes we should sup, but buying etc is a monetary thing and we need to make wise decisions. From where i see one of the following is true
1. Changan alsvin is over priced in Pakistan
Or
2. Yaris is cheaper in Pakistan
So why would i support some one who is selling a car at an increased rate in pak? Should i not than get a car which now seems cheaper and has a market/maintainamce network?
2 mil plus is not a small amount to show support, its hard earned money.
Just like we are wary of MG operations we should be wary of a new company in over pricing their products.

You do realize MG is booking everything on cbus, their promises of local production seems empty and now this huge issue of import legality..

Who can guarantee they'll be in business even 1 year later.

No one can give guarantee of any car brand really look at proton in the other hand they are taking bookings for Ckd a year before delivery and without a proper setup started giving bookings of cbu who will give guarantee for them

Well, proton x70 recently announced they are offering cars for test drive, and yes there are definitely issues with changan but just look at some of the famous reviewers on youtube, pakwheels and autonotch, they drove the cars for more than 100 kms, and were very satisfied with what they experienced.

I have also inspected CKDs in Karachi personally, and they are in my opinion just as good as CBUs. Like it or not they are offering a good MT sedan in clutus prices, so I would say its a risk well worth taking.

I would also not be worried about issues in the first year or two since:

1. Warranty is offered for the first 3 years.

2. Resale of such a car will most probably be at cost price. Budget of Sep 2021 is coming, and you will see yourself the prices of everything doubling.

3. Cosumer can either register a MT for 24 OTR price, or buy for 23 from me, before Sep 2021. After this date as I said prices would increase anyways so you would not lose. Just like people booked Glory last year and now they are demanding 42 lacs for 15000 kms driven... even websites like carfirst who buy ASAP are offering more rates than what they bought their vehicles for

Personally therefore, this is no issue for me. But everyone is free to have their own opinions...
And yes, I wholly join you in bashing Changan on the wrong things, they should have displayed CKD 100% but even still they sold out in the first few hours so...

Investment is when they do CKD.. CBU is not investment and those so called showrooms is not a huge investment and also dealers are a franchise setup..basically car company gets money from dealers when the company give license to dealerships. It's like royalty. JW-SEZ does not lose anything if someone opens a showroom. building, showroom , tools, workshop and all aassociated stuff is owned by dealer NOT the JW-SEZ.

The purpose of auto policy was to develop local industry and setup new players.. CBU don't help in that cause and that's the reason PAMA is not happy about it.

What about CKD X70 there are none displayed yet they are taking bookings at least alsvin has Ckd units ready but not proton I think
If talking about test drives aren’t MG giving test drives as well and those too for the cars that people will get whereas proton is only offering them for the limited CBU units and yet taking bookings of CKD alongside CBU

Well.. but you also agree that CKD X70 also has lower price comparing the limited 200 CBU being offered.. and they did mention that the vehicle on display is CBU. FAW dealership are converted all across the country with full service workshop in place. They did a proper launch with a proper presentation.

You also know that CKD X70 is coming and even with a price given. As of MG, there is no road map.. no factory or local assembly in sight. They are totally relying on CBU and their dealer network is also too cloudy. I don't see any official presentation as far as HS or even ZS. This is not how things work.

Alsvin, they kept on saying its CKD until we burst the bubble.

Im pretty sure Afridi saheb will pack up MG. Were getting clear signs of that.

Siac has invested heavily in MG, they cannot be in it for the short run. I blv their strategy is to flood the market with their cars even before an assembly plant is set. Look at KIA they took most of the crossover market because they were early. MG i dnt think want to wait anylonger for production to start, their main obj is to capture the market by numbers and its working. People know the MG name now.
the CBU cost on which MG pak is paying full tax is an indicator that they are not under invoicing but the company is selling it to the pakistan market at maybe production cost which takes the sting out of taxes. By the time their assembly line starts working they will already have a massive presence in market, If they launch the MG5 as well than this will also be in line with this strategy and they would be present in most segments.
My gripe will always be with the price of MG ZS in Pakistan and if that remains constant then we know that MG5 will also be more expensive in Pakistan and the end result will not be in favor of the consumer.
Once a market has enough volume of a brand, providing services for the parent company is not really an issue, they can franchise the services etc as well and make even more money on it,

MG - Great car, maybe, worth the risk though....definitely not. 55Lacs is still 55Lacs, too high (for some, shayad) for whimsical spending! Till the fog clears regarding the company's management and fulfillment of commitments etc, Sportage/Tucson remain the safest option in Pakistani market (new entrants/crossover segment wise speaking).
