MG has launched MG 5 in Thailand recently. It comes with an NA 1.5l engine/8-spd CVT and is roughly the size of Civic/Corolla (longer and wider than Civic and larger than Corolla in all dimensions except wheelbase).

In Thailand, its price has been set between PKR 2.7-3.3 mn.

For reference, these are car prices in Thailand.
MG HS (Turbo X) : 5.5mn
MG ZS : 3.3-3.9mn
Honda Civic: 4.3-5.9mn
Honda BRV: 3.7-4.1mn
Toyota Yaris: 2.6-3.2mn

Even though I'm no fan of how MG is conducting its business in Pakistan, this car could really make a mark in our market. Among the few CBUs recently imported by MG, there was an MG 5 unit which raises the hopes that MG might launch this sometime in the future. Fingers crossed.

Just saw an MG selling for 5.8M unregistered in Islamabad. 4800km mileage.
Seems like the initial euphoria is dying out

I had a test drive of MG HS recently, this particular car is at Faiz motors and driven 20k almost... in my opinion I heard clear noises from transmission esp. when downshifting and in low gears. You hear a 'thud' followed by a slight jerk... it gives you rikshaw wali feelings in a big car. It may have been only one unit as such but it's a big issue. When I told owner I was just checking out the car and not act buying it he opened up and said his car is on sale since 4 months but jo one wants it due to this issue. He is now calling his luck eyeing to get sportage.

By no means is this reflective of the entire MG range... it may only be ONE defective unit

MG is still an impressive product for its price. But we dont trust its management, people since November have been waiting for deliveries. Proton X70 is another great product. It is also almost 1.5M cheaper. I would be inclined towards that on own if I'm feeling brave. Otherwise sportage is still the best choice... there are so many choices in Pak SUV market now that one really has no excuse of choice...

How much was MG guy selling it for? I've seen ads of 5000-10000KM driven ones being listed for 6.0 million which is stupid to say the least. Did he have it looked at the MG dealership? I don't think all cars do this, some DCT transmissions do it but there is usually a way to recalibrate the transmission and it smoothens it out.

Had a drive in MG HS yesterday. It felt stiff compared to Tucson, haven't had a drive in Sportage so can't compare. To me MG HS felt stiffer than the civic. Is that a correct observation or merely placebo?

Just got some info from the MG group on Facebook and saw people receiving their cars who have G-300 onwards allocation numbers whereas I haven't received mine although my allocation number is G-305. Another thing doing rounds is that the black ones are short right now and they are giving out only the white ones.

I believe you have said it correctly as I test drove it a week back and compared its ride to my civic. yep, it definitely has a stiffer ride as compared to my civic at least.

I heard some cars came with 45 psi in the tires maybe that's the reason or maybe it actually is, def need an owner to shed light on this

Tire pressure is measured n filled only on cold tires.

Unlike our awam that not only measures but also fills based on warm Tire pressure. That is always much higher than the cold tire pressure.

Another carrier has crashed with White MG HS's upside down on Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway. It seems to be some sort of a curse or something because it's like the 3rd time this happened.

This is definitely getting out of hand now. They are only giving cars to those who spend all their time going to them and fighting! Should close my office for a week and start visiting them everyday
