Mini Cooper S countryman gear problem

Salam I've this mini Cooper S countryman 2014 in Karachi bought it from auction a while back,so the problem Is that my mini used to have some missing when it went above 120 km/h I got the gear removed in hopes for getting it repaired but had no luck in finding a mechanic for it and the car has sat ever since with the engine in one workshop and the gear in another if anyone can tell me how and where to get it repaired or can help me find a cheap and reliable automatic gear btw it's an automatic 1.6 fwd car I would really appreciate the help

and now the engine at work shop 1 for transmission workshop is at workshop 2. both workshops attempted certain repair and failed to couple engine & transmission back into vehicle drive able ? is this the case sir ??

Sir if you had come to this forum asking for assistance before you parted out your car to two workshops, we could have guided you. But now there is no telling what those two work shops have done to your engine and transmission. I cant see a clear way forward except put the thing back together, carry it to Dewan Motor group and be ready to be slaughtered by them. That is if you are still interested to get it on the road.

The other option is like stamping all over your heart by saying to sell it for scrap and cut your losses.

But another small issue has risen I cannot find the key for it do you have any knowledge on where can I get a mini Cooper S key made?

sir @pwuser162704396973 such keys can only be sourced from OEM, like sir @Xulfiqar many times mentioned that most of the FOB keys are difficult to clone. As ECU & KEY are programmed coupled with cloning device connected to vehicle, to ensure anti-theft function.

If you had misfires it must have recorded the issue in the ecu, did you check the fuelling system?

Bmw agents (dewan) can get you a key from the vin of the car, literally twist n start as long as you have a proper car and not cobbled together with other parts.

I have zero experience with Coopers but my gut says that the transmission you get from Dubai may need reprogramming to work with your car. I don't know if you will be using the old TCU or getting a TCU along with the transmission from Dubai. Anyway hope that it works out for you. In any case let Dewan do the work, that is if they even agree to do the work after all what is happened so far.

With regards to the key fob, @Xulfiqar and @sardarg are absolutely right in suggesting to approach Dewan to get you a fob from BMW. It will be very expensive. I have owned two BMWs in my time. One was a 1998 model and the other a 2004. The newer car key had all sorts of stuff in it, When put in the key reader at the dealer, it flashed the car present milage, any troubles with the car and last oil service km on the service advisors computer screen. I am guessing your Cooper is later than 2004, so the fob may be more fancy than my old 2004 car's.

What im more interested in here is that a case of misfire resulted in transmission work! 🤣

The tcm inside the unit needs to be programmed to the car. Or use the old tcm.

And its a good idea to get the latest software update for it too.

I know of key makers who can clone remotes and cut any type of key but we are talking of your everyday remote fob with basic functions but even for those they need the original in order to clone. In this case the fob is lost and even if he did have it, it is way too sophisticated for the local places here to replicate.

Why the transmission was taken out was perhaps some ustaad advising OP that the jerks (misfires) were caused by a bad tranny. Only OP can tell us. If Dewan had a go at diagnosing, it might have been coils. Who knows. But my gut says it would have been a bad head gasket. These cars are known for head gasket failures.
