Some details on the trek
We started walking at around 1230 from Nathiagali bazar (Taj Hotel famous for its Chargha). Reached in around 30 minutes to the point from where the hike start. The trek to Miranjani-Dagree is full of different local flowers and has very beautiful surroundings with greenish all around you. Trek till Miranjani is tough with start and end having steep ascend. You find straight walk in the middle part of it though. We reached in 2 hours to Miranjani and had some break. Approx trek distance till Miranjani is 6 Km
From Miranjani, the trek is descend at start and then almost a straight walk with slight ascend at the end. Trek distance is approx 10Km. A guard is there till Magrib time (normally he leaves for his house in nearby village) at 5pm. Waheed and Yousaf are the two guards who perform duty there in different days. To avail any facility (e.g. local kitchen, cooking etc), you need to reach in time. You can camp there at any time though without any permission (normally no issue, until an unless if any of the forest officer is paying a visit there, which normally happens twice/thrice a year and that happens only at day time)
Important to note is that you don't find any water during this trek. At dagri though there is stream in close by (approx 15 mins walk), where you can find water. The water is extremely cold, rather I would say freezing. You may not be able to use it for half an hour.
We returned back from dagri on same route next morning (From dagri you can take the route of baren gali where you can reach to thandiani (abbotabad). That path is around 12 km and will take around 4 hrs (Kashif, who traveled with us has done that trek in 2008).
On return it took same time to reach Miranjani i.e. 2hrs. We reached miranjani top, had some photography and then moved back towards Nathigali. We reached to trek start in 1.5 hrs (that include a 10 min midway break).
