It makes it worse, you have a singer silayi machine ki motor trying to move a car, with AWD its like singer motor trying to move a truck, with low gearing you can do it - but your vehicle speed would be glacially slow - as in a tortoise (kachwa) will beat you any day.

I have 2008 model Nissan pino, 69k driven was givng me 13km/l before, when i change air filter, engine oil, plugs, gear oil after it now its giving me 18kmp/l.

maybe you drive around in congested areas thats why... or your car is turbo? EK Sports version? you have the normal tyre size? n EK comes with two kinds of auto tranny one with 3 n other with 4. but i believe 09 model comes with 4.

do valve clearance n throttle body, plugs, air filter n report plz.

i used to get as much as 25 kmpl. n never below 18 from a manual one.

sir, air filter iz in great condition, changed engine oil a while ago. plugs will be changed tomorrow and will also get the gear oil checkd

the car isnt turbo it has a 660cc efi engine, its auto wid 3 frwd shifts

throttle body iz fine, had it checked about 2 weeks ago, air filter is in brand new condition and vl replace the original denso plugs with irridium plugs tomorrow INSHALLAH.

but yeah wht to do about the valve clearance? tawkd with the guy and he said sumthng like the valves are hydrolic blah blah something so can u please guide me to it? vl get it done tomorrow INSHALLAH

these are under powered cars,if u drive it under 3 rpm it would definatly increase the milage,but when these little engines are throteled for the performanse they consume like 1.6L cars.12km/l is ok if ur drive is within the city,as u have auto,manual one can go to 15km/l within city.

below 3rpm didnt gv any betterment sir. but sir i dont thnk so tht such a little engine should suck up soo much fuel. But if the problem remains i vl definitely go fr some other car and sell this one.

Nissan Pino gives better mileage as its 4AT.. 4 forward gears...
Valve clearance needs to be done in a different way , as there are no adjusters.. You have to measure the current gap, and then you need to get the shims (Tikki) grinded by a kharadia to get the required clearance.. EXAMPLE. My exhaust valve clearance was 8mm..And factory spec of my car said 12mm. So i got the shims grinded off 4mm and then put back the shims and re-checked the gap which was 12MM .. Woilaaa!!!!!!

if there are only 3 forward gears (not as some people think by looking on the gears marked on the gear shift lever) then maybe it does give a low mileage.

yeah some valves cannot be adjusted by tightening / loosening the screws. For that you might to get it done by some other standard process (if that exists). I dont know whether the one described by Ehsan 4808 is a standard one or just a jugar. Xulfiqar can be of help here.

Some people (esp those who shift from driving manual ones) get low mileage from automatic cars cuz they drive it like a manual: always have their foot on the gas or the break. whereas autos are meant to be driven like a locomotive engine. you press the pedal to get the required speed and then you release the pedal till the speed falls back to an unacceptable level.

try fiddling with the sensor located on the air intake. clean it using an electronic de-greaser. but do not damage it.

Do you guys honestly believe that a cat convertor can choke out? The immense heat in a petrol engine exhaust is high enough to burn off any carbon deposits off it. The only way it can choke is my melting of the core which can only happen if raw petrol is dumping down the exhaust which sets an extremely hot fire in the convertor - it will glow red from outside while it kills itself.

These series of choked convertors I hear about can only be traced to either the engine is running extremely cold at all times or the cars systems were deliberately damaged to get rid of in the country of origin. Please remember these cars are not meant to work for long, they are kei cars - cheap and disposable.

I had the exactly the same thoughts on my mind regarding why a catalytic convertor would choke. but it does choke somehow. it always does for some other reason.

maybe too much moisture, as observed in case of CNG (but then again how does it can destroy ceramic material)
lead deposits (not much are present nowadays in fuel)

i had a platz 01 that is totaly driven on petrol and gave excellent consumption. 15 kmpl above always. but then after 2 yrs its convertor got choked. it wasnt just my weham. it started giving a low acceleration (though it was beautifully maintained).

I dont believe what Xulfi has stated, since in Pakistan the fuel quality is so bad that it often chokes the catalytical convertors installed in imported cars/Local cars. But incidently if cataytical convertor is choke then, you car wont go above 40 ~60 km while pressing the pedal full down. Ironically in your post you haven't mentioned such a problem.

valve setting could not be the issue since its valve adjusts hydraullically.
Now you havent mentioned is your car is Type M, MX, XS or eco mode. since the economy of only M is stated as 17 km/Liter in Japan the rest provides 21~23.08 km/Litre in (10-15 mode) and in JC08 mode it is lesser. therefore it is suggested that:
You better try to drive you vehicle in both the modes and share the averages.
Try driving your vehicle in lower rpms.
Try using 40 % high octane and 60 % normal patrol.
Use good quality patrol (Caltax/Total/PARCO).
Use tyres of 155/65 R13 with 32 Psi in all tyres.
You havent stated in what speed you often drive the car?
Dont jerk up your car to get high speeds.

I myself own a 660 cc mazda carol where i get 17.34 km/Lit of averages in City with AC (10-15 mode).

i drive 95% o the times in low rmp but sumtimes there are sum ppl on the roads tht cmpltly **** u off

i use shell petrol coz my czn owns it nd atleast em sure abt tht they dont do any kind o "ghapla" with the fuel (nd yeah i pay for the fuel)
tyres are already 155/65 R13 and not evn alloys. i had kept 30psi in all tyres, vl make it 32 now
i drive it frm btween 50-70kmph
i dont evn press the paddle to full 95% of the times, but 5% o the times are wen sum driver pisses me off badly by thea stupid driving style.

the main thing is , plz plz plz dont expect to get wonders from these 660cc cars , most of these cars r auto n then 3 gear forward in which the engine shouts so much after 70-80 , what more to expect than 12/litre

Grinding the Valve Shims !!!! No Bro its not Jugaar!!..Lolzz..... The actual procedure is to replace the Shim with a Lesser thick shim.. Shims have their sizes mentioned on it...You do the math! buy the exact value shim and replace it.... The grinding done abroad is by those people who do not want to Spend $ buying new shims!!!, Hence the get it grinded as per their required size. Now why we do this in PAK, is the reason that there are no shops/dealers who sells SHIMS !!.. Due to the Unavailability here, we have to get it grinded as well.. Technical People who know the importance of proper GAP setting will never drive their car when they know that their Shim is off sized by 4mm.. Just like in my case. 12mm was the factory provided claerance gap and my GAP was at 8mm....

You get 17.34KM/l via 10-15 mode ??? As per my knowledge The 10-15 test is carried out on a dynamometer and consist of 25 tests which cover idling, acceleration, steady running and deceleration, and simulate typical urban and/or expressway driving patterns.
Have you actually carried out these 25 tests????
