Mobil 1 vs Liqui Moly

Mobil 1 5w50 synthetic or Liqui Moly 5w40 Synthoil High Tech (BTW, is this a Group IV oil?).

Which one is better and why?

Need opinions from people who have used both in any application.......petrol or diesel.

i had used both .....both r great oil.....i shifted to liqui moly due to grade is more suitable for my markx

Despite being a 40 grade oil, is the LM thicker at operating temperature than Mobil 1 5w50? Which oil kept the engine quieter and smoother when fully warm?

The reason I am asking is because I have tried the Mobil 1 5w50 and felt that it thinned out considerably when the car was driven at highway speeds during summer. With 20w50 mineral oil its quieter.

i didnt felt any difference in sound...however i ve noticed lil better fuel consumption n quicker response.....most of the ppl used fully synthetic 0w20 or 5w30 in other countries for markx/lexus IS250 both carry same engine.....even the price of both oil were same so i went for LM..... btw 5w50 shud be more thicker than 5w40 both synthetic but here in Khi we ll hardly see the difference once the engine get warm.....i cant believed 20w50 was more quieter than any fully synthetic which car u got?

which engine u have M50B20 or M50TUB20?...i assumed u got M50TUB20 2000cc as it came with vanos after 93+ model E36....bmw always recommend castrol but here u cant find castrol synthetic.....i ll say u shud stick to mineral oil 10w40 or 20w50....so far i ve seen caltex havoline 20w50 which is good....if u want imported synthetic brand...u need to import 20w50 Amsoil or royal purple but tht wud cost a lot

I guess I will stick with mineral oil. Plaza Autos have Amsoil full synthetic but in 5w30 and 10w30 weight. BTW, does anybody carry the Redline or Royal Purple line in khi?

Amsoil is the best synthetic oil in US.....royal purple n redline r available at the Optimum motorsport zamzama
