Most phones are from abroad and involved in Insurance fraud/scams.
A person travels from UK with an iPhone on contract- He has Insurance on the mobile. The person then proceeds by selling it off in Pakistan and gets a handsome amount of pocket money.
Goes back to UK and tells company it got stolen while traveling bla bla.
Company has no proof against him and has to Issue him a new phone or cancel the contract. The phone then gets blocked in most EU Countries, Pakistan is exempt.
Only way to block phone in Pakistan is to contact PTA and give them IMEI. Shopkeeper then sells it off " Yeh mere bhai ne bheja tha lol".
And, in-experienced buyers cannot distinguish local re-sealed boxes or proper company seals. Some phones have local warranty from suppliers- they open box, insert warranty card at the bottom or inside then re-seal the box.
I stopped buying phones from Pak- All come from abroad.
Plus, in some countries 17% VAT(Value added tax) is added. But, if you order online and address is not in the same country, no VAT is added.
I am getting HTC ONE M8 for 97,000 Approx. My Mom is buying it from there. If I ordered it to my Pakistani home address- It would cost me 80,000. I think you can also email them that the phone will be used abroad, they might not add VAT.
