Yeah, that comes in very handy. I use it extensively.
Learning how to hold the camera properly, basic settings like ISO, Aperture, Shutter speed, White balance, Focus etc and then taking photos with proper composition is more than enough for a beginner photographer IMO
Additionally, you can learn about post processing and RAW photos.
Rest you will learn by experimenting, reading on Internet and seeing more photographers photos.
Currently, I learnt all the manual controls, and their uses (easy to learn from YouTube), post processing (little bit) and now improving my composition.
Once you learn it, you will truly enjoy photography.
