Mohsin, with a lot of eeees in it....
If you are starting off and have no idea what to get then I suggest like any other hobby or interest you should start real basic.
As for 4x4s, they come in all sizes and variations that I don't think I need to go into. My sincere advice to you would be to start off with a basic ride & not get into restorations, as that can take you a mile high, on costs & ride (chakars)
A very cool vehicle to start off with is the SUzuki SJ410 ........ a LWB (long wheel base) would be ideal. Its petrol (easier to maintain, cheaper to run & files off-road) Not meant for extreme off-roading unless you really sooop it up, but it is one vehicle that is known not to get stuck.
Whatever you choose, what you need to check is;
1) How good is the engine
2) How good is the transfer system & whether the 4x4 works, alot of jeeps parked out there for sale dont have their 4x4s working. So sort that out 1st, before you put your hand on it.
3) Suspension & axles. On a normal road it should not give you a back ache & the turns should be smooth, rather than a clanking, thug thug or karr karr.
4) See more rusty spots, esp under the wheel wells, floor panels etc etc.
If you do like a piece, your offer should be based on how much work you need to get done in it.
Once again, I would not recommend you to go into a restoration phase without any know-how and a trusted mechanic in the back pocket. Lack of both can lead you and your project into doldrums.
Good luck & keep posting.
