If it has leaf springs (kamani's) then it could be lowered by placing small blocks made by any good kharadia to be placed between the leaf springs and axles (where the axle sits on leaf springs) and using a bit longer U bolts. Hope this helps.

I believe the 1980 Corolla came with coil springs at the back.

yes it has coil sping. leaf spring last came in 1979 model.
