Ok . Go and test it yourself. Take a normal civic and install the best filter you find in market and test the engine on a dyno. Infact even if you test a car without a filter at all , still you dont gain 10-12hp. Its barely 1-2 hp max. Go ask the experts or check out the mod list and ask anyone of them. They wud disagree that u gain 10-12hp with air intake upgrade.

Hmm Air Intake increase a little bit though for such gain with Air intake /free flow one has to remap ecu some fueling upgrades atleast to make more combustion wth more air being forced inside by aftermarket filter

Mister, the guy who u are calling a kid knows atleast more then u! Do u know what is 10-12 horsepower is?Do u hav any idea? U are saying like current civic comes with the filter of mehran thats y the abv kn filter stuff will increase its hp from 10-12.

I think the japanese type r which is the same shape as pakistani civic also comes with a k20. So a K20 shud fit in your civic wid slight modifications.

Buddy I know what 10-12 Bhp means quite surely ! air intake manifold modifications and superior air filters can boost upto 10% of the Engines Bhp production... Putting Nos and all is another thing and most of the people have learnt it after Fast and the Furious but before in the earlier days car performances were enhanced by air intake modifications and better fuel management !

sorry buddy, but nitrous oxide has been used since the 60's and there is no intake in the world which will give a civic 10% more power. the 10% is a marketing claim, which means the K&N guys got 10% more power on ONE of the cars they did the installatino on and i can assure you the car had a turbo and a very restrictive OEM airbox (like the early lancia deltas). BTW in the old days people got more power out of their engines by playing with the heads, giving 3-5 angle grinds to their valves, fitting ultra high compression heads (like in the hemi) and lightening the weight as well as fitting larger carbs, higher ratio rockers and cams with more aggressive profiles. reason i know this is becasue this is exactly what people STILL do with VW's.

as far as the power claims go, even on the Z06 (factory 505hp) the power gain was 27hp which is around 6%. now do the math, the car had a high perfromance 7.0L engine,.. now do you honestly expect a 1.8L Vtec engine which is designed for economy to produce 10% more power?

i'm going to have to disagree with you on this one.

if you want more power on this engine you will have to get some form of forced induction. most reliable form will be a supercharger but it'll be cheaper to fit a simple bolt-on turbo kit (and you'll get a little more power).

however for a little added cost you could just sell the civic and buy a used RX8 or 350Z. at least they are built to go fast.

as far as power... agree woth storm sell it and get a proper thing

or k20 is the best swap fort his model....or a k24 with k20head....

on honad racing team they got 270hp from a k24 with k20 head NA

Agreee wid Storm ! now thats what you call a very comprehensive, well referenced ( the hemi one) and logical (Z06 ) with historical refs too... very informative -- I suggested him in my first reply To go for some thing which is made to go fast like the Civic Si or the Type R- mugen RR etc or if not then import its engine and fix it in... as amjad rohani asked the cost of the modification I percieved as if he is concerned about the budget so As to astray him from Nos and all and its after effects -- i tried suggesting him something easy ...

I agree that instead of wasting money on A stock 1.8... he should go for something which comes with 200hp plus.. RX8 best choice to exchange with 1.8 range...350Z A V6 and a minimum price tag over 2.4mil... RX 8 is best or an engine import of the same Civic Si which made to fix in the same bonnet...
