Saw traffic entering from abdul hakim interchange. Has anyone travelled so far?

do we need special permission to enter abdul hakim?
or go from shorkot exit?

Just got back. Abdulhakim interchange is open if you wanna travel towards faisalabad. However if you are coming from faisalabad/gojra towards abdulhakim you have to exit at shorkot. There are concrete barriers blocking the entry at shorkot towards abdulhakim.

And no special persmission etc needed. Its open. No toll either.

I want to travel at abdul hakeem motorway but don’t know where to get on and exit

Abdulhakim interchange is open for entry if you want to travel towards Faisalabad or onwards from there. The interchange is located 1-2 km outside of Abdulhakim towards Pull Bagar.

However it is not possible (till yesterday) to exit at Abdulhakim because that side of the road is blocked at Shorkot. So you will have to exit at Shorkot.

Just travelled on the M3 (Lahore-Abdulhakim) with special permission. Was suppossd to enter from Abdulhakim but couldnt get in touch with the concerned person in time so entered M3 from Rajana Toll-Plaza instead. From there travelled on the M3 till Sharaqpur. Was told that while it is possible to drive all the way till M2, but some bridge on the way is under construction and there is a small portion which is difficult to cross on cars (SUVs can cross). Plus they aparently close that portion after 5pm for that reason. The toll plaza is about 2-3km outside of Sharaqpur. Sharaqpur onwards I took the Lahore-Jarranwala road till M2 Faizpur Interchange.

Later on saw some cars (city, corolla etc) entering directly onto m2 from M3 so I guess it is possible to travel all the way.

Some thoughts and observations.

• Its not possible to travel without permission yet (at least not very convenient. Saw some people arguing with staff at checkposts etc and i guess some would be let through. So if you really really trust your persuasion skills go for it at your own risk. Lol)

While it is possible to enter from some toll plazas, there are a number of barriers on the motorway itself (i encountered 3) and there was staff present with a list of vehicles allowed to pass.

• The motorway itself is complete (expect maybe the bridge I didnt get to see) but rest areas will still take a while. Also a lot of toll-plazas are still under construction. Which I feel will still take a few months atleast. I could be wrong.

• Saw lots of motorcycles (which didnt look like workers) plus pedestrians including women and children. At one point even a group that appeared to be a wedding procession... casually strolling on the motorway.. lol. Also it appeared that at various points locals have found ways to pass through the fences and are using the road for recreation ( why someone would spend their free time looking at an empty road beats me)

• With each passing day that the motorway is not handed over to the motorway police plus opened to traffic it is susceptible to vandalism and deterioration.

• One major problem I can foresee is that once M3 is opened for traffic, Ravi toll plaza which is already overburdened (despite a lot of booths) could become a major bottleneck. Also Ravi toll plaza onwards there is already too much traffic. Expansion work has already started but seems like it will take a while.

UPDATE : Travelled again from Abdulhakim all the way to M2 and back. It is possible to drive all the way now. However it is a bit tricky to get onto M3 from M2 because there is access only from one side

Traveled yesterday on M4 from Abdul Hakeem to Toba. One can get entry after some negotiation with men at toll plaza. Road and bridges are complete. Side fence open yet at many areas, so animals on motorway are common. Dumpers and bikes common. Toll plazas are under construction. Motorway police vehicles can be seen occasionally.
One side of motorway is closed between Shorkot to Abdul Hakeem, so you have to switch to the left side of motorway on Shorkot interchange and oncoming traffic on same patch of road. Risky traveling.

travelled from islamabad to multan (12th march) throughout motorway (max 6 hr journey - excluding breaks)
till gojra its complete and functional..

after/during gojra (no petrol, food or washroom, and proper law and order after that)

gojra-shorkot - no toll -
the guards let you go in easily.. there is motorway police on it too and protection grills on the side of the highway to keep locals and pedestrians away..
hazard: there are places open where you can take uturns, so be careful while driving as there is oncoming traffic .. this area cannot be encouraged to travel at night

shorkot-abdul hakim - no toll -
need negotiations and sweet talk with guards, we even paid a guard in the middle of motorway as well
construction work is ongoing so you will see closed roads alot.. need to change road side, so you will get to see one way traffic alot.. no grills, no motorway police, locals & motorcycles move freely
this area is prone to disasters.. 2 days ago 10 cars got into an accident with a couple of deaths as told by the motorway police
so plan this route in broad daylight

abdul hakim-shamkot interchange (khanewal) - no toll - many rough patches
negotiation and sweet talk needed with guards
trucks and construction machinery will block roads,
no security, locals and workers roam freely
plenty of road patches underconstruction.. a bridge connecting the motorway to shahkot underconstruction.. so you will have to get off before and find shamkot tollplaza
we took vitz on it and it got hit under around 5 times
this patch is also not encouraged to travel after sunset
this patch is not meant for new drivers and low clearance cars

shamkot interchange-multan - toll
complete and functional with law and order

Please be advised to Plan your journey in broad daylight to use these patches at your own risk
The driver and owner of the vitz i was travelling in does the opposite and gets impatient when someone tries to discourage him (typical mentality) as he is an experienced and good driver.. so there is no machoism in breaking the law, interrupting construction, and disturbing law and order by doing this.. you are only putting your own life and car at risk.
Everyday there are accidents happening in these areas... its better to be safe and patient than sorry! May Allah keeps us safe!
