I just quote the facts and give my description of those facts
To be very honest, I haven't had any issues with PKDMs we've owned:
Suzuki cultus 2000-2010
Honda civic vti 2002-2013
Honda civic vti 2005- still have it
Suzuki swift manual - 2010- present
Honda civic 2013-present
We've kept imports too and all had air conditioning units problems
Ukdm Toyota corolla (bought new) 1988-2002
Jdm Toyota corolla (bought new) 1991-2005
Jdm daihatsu move (bought second hand /reconditioned /accidented - I don't know :p) - 2012-2014
My family's experience with PKDMs has been very smooth and trouble free.
We had issues with imports from the day they landed in Pakistan. I remember my father used to bring the front headlights of the Corolla from UK himself when a janglee wagon wala used to crash into him. He once brought a whole carburettor too.
The imports have definitely been more comfortable, but have spent more time at the mechanics than on the roads than their pkdm counterparts.
And I guess nowadays its still true. Despite seeing so many imports on the roads, the owners have to through a lot of trouble if they break down.
So yes, I love PKDMs even though they're expensive, have technology from 7 years ago and are less luxurious . But they're trouble free and keep me from sweating and spending excessive cash fixing them up
