Bro use a screw driver to open it instead of coin or key ring. If you want to check water level you can had it by opening two caps. Or else when next time you will have a chance to open battery terminals so change the direction of the wires.

I wouldn't advise opening or loosening the battery terminals. My fathers colleagues driver did that on his car and I don't how, but all the electronics of his civic went haywire. The navigation won't work and the rev counter needle kept going up and down.
The Honda mechanics advised to get battery water levels checked only by them as this could possibly void the warranty.
Battery levels decrease drastically in the first 1000kms, as the new battery absorbs a lot of water. But again, doing it yourself could cause a problem. It's best to get it done by the Honda mechanics. And their prices are quite reasonable.

Did you find night driving a bit difficult? With every car coming from the opposite direction with full beam on-especially in the fast lane of the motorway?
The last time I drove on the motorway at night was in our '05 civic. This time in the' 13 civic the light from the opposite traffic was coming directly in my line of vision, is it possible that it's due to the lower seating position of this new car as compared to its predecessor?

yar it is difficult if opposite traffic is on high beam i dont think its due to lowering of the seat , coz i have run toyota vigo on motorway same thing in tht too ,

I've noticed a murky smell coming from the vents when only the fan is on. It's very subtle. Could it be a possibility that the a/c filter needs replacing/cleaning?

I too noticed that in my recent night journey on motorway.. I also noticed that when driving at night on low beam, the coverage was merely 30-40ft or so, and its next to impossible to stop in such a distance when travelling 120+.. so i had to switch to high beams to gt a clear picture of the road ahead. Later on i went n got the height level raised by an inch or so. I dont knw whether the beam height is low on all civics or was on mine only. Evrryone owning one should notice it when driving at nights and get it checked therafter just to b in the safe side.

I didn't feel that my cars beam had an issue during night driving. It's just that the oncoming traffic is at high beam which is extremely blinding - and that too when driving in the fast lane to overtake, etc.
The current adjustment of the beam is perfect in my opinion.
But thanks for pointing it out, I will check again during night driving and compare it with the height of beams of other cars as well.

so far, we've done around 10,000 kms. the car's going good. alot of people ask me whether they should buy this or an equally priced second hand c class. I advise them that the honda civic, although more expensive is more suited to our driving conditions and has relatively cheap parts, etc. some listen, some don't. those who don't, buy a c class and show it off - until shahnawaz hands them the bill of a routine tuning and checkup
after which they try to sell their beloved cars for a civic

fellow pakwheelers, i know that the c class is better in all aspects than the honda. however you should also consider maintenance costs. as repeatedly mentioned in other threads, owning a merc is pretty heavy on the pocket. no doubt your c class has more bhp and torque, better suspension, better everything than the PKDM civic, but you should also consider the costs of maintaining your "better" car as well. however, if you're not poor like me, then go ahead. buy a c class, 3 series, audi. their drive is definitely better than the poor mans "PKDM CIVIC"

took the car to honda city sales today for it's 10,000 km tuning.
they changed the oil, oil filter , air filter.

as the air conditioning was giving a mouldy smell, i asked them to check the A/C filter. it was clogged! they tried cleaning it, but the dust wouldn't get off. so they changed it as well.

total cost of tuning including parts: 7500/-

most mechanics are not familiar with the on board diagnostic testing which is done by putting the key into the ignition , and rotating it to the first point where all the emergency lights start blinking. then they press the odometer reset button and keep pressing it along with pressing the brake pedal or something. The IMID then shows the diagnostic settings of the cars engine.
the mechanic refused to tell me how he does it. i guess it could damage the cars electric system if people like me play around with it. however its good to ask the mechanic to check it. if he doesnt know , ask him to get another mechanic who knows what to do.

if i am running my cars air conditioner on fresh air, then the fresh air will directly come into the cabin or the fresh (outside air) will first get filtered from a/c filter then travel to cabin ?

Whatever air blows through your dash vents, is filtered. Be it recirculated or fresh air.

i asked this ques coz , i am dust allergic , now in winters i have to keep my ac on to de mist the fog on the mirrors , and if u drive ur car with fresh air your mirrors are 90 percent free of fog, this is how u save an extra load on engine by keep ur a/c switch off

Try an anti-fog glass cleaner, it will help you decrease the fog levels on ur windows and windscreens by upto 50%.

A lot of stuff has been going on regarding the mileage of this car, here is a little something which I felt during a recent trip in it.

Usually, on an even road, or moving downhill, cruise control is a healthy option to maintain speed. Otherwise this car will gain speeds very well above the speed limits and won't even let you feel the slightest of anything if you don't look at the digits on the dash.

BUT, it really screws up your gas mileage if you use it uphill. It floors the car HARD to maintain speed, that's what I've felt. The normal economy of 14-15kpl dropped down to hardly 9 kpl when driven with cruise control uphill. Turn the cruise off and accelerate softly, the mileage will still remain in 13-14 kpl numbers.

I consider what it does for an 1.8L car pretty decent, provided my 1.3L Corolla GLi drinks a liter every 9 or 10 kilometers.
