My First DSLR - Which one to get?

Go for D5100

It surely is an awesome camera also a latest one. But from all my research on DSLR and expert opinions, i guess me being a beginner in this field should op for D3100. However i will pay a visit to Nikon's Showroom and lets see if D5100 is enought attractive to force me to buy it

I bought D3100 because of budget but I liked D7000 and thought that I will change it as soon as possible but now I am in love with it and in future with a prime and a zoom lens it will be complete and I cannot think to change it until I get someting really big !

Yeah. I saw your thread and D3100 does give very good and quite clear results. The pictures were quite vivid and spectacular.

also see if Sony A-55 comes in your range. it has better video and 10fps which is better then all the cameras u mentioned so far.

i bought it from digital place there is a man kamran .. HIS RATES ARE GOOD .. I BOUGHT IT FOR RS 51000 WITH CLASS 10 16gb memory card..

Well i visited it too, but people are advising me to visit and get it from the Official Nikon Showroom on Sharae Faisal. Although they might charge a bit more but the product and warranty will be satisfying.
Shopkeepers get it wrapped themselves and give their own warranty while the Nikon Dealership has its own warranty.

Yeah. thats what i think too.
I shoud start of with a D3100 explore it fully, learn all the feautres, modes etc and then i should upgrade to a better body and better lenses.

When in the market; how about asking for used D3100; it will give you an idea when you will be upgrading how much you will be losing and might help you further to decide should you start directly from D5100 or go in steps.

My cousin suggested me another thing. He will send me over his D5000 for trial and ill see if i can adjust easily to it, ill go for D5100 and if not then D3100.

To tell you the truth, i used D5100, i had never used a DSLR before. I realized that its just an illusion that DSLR is a complicated thing. Its just more of a digital camera with added IQ and weight. I'd say go for D5100 and you wont regret your decision and you'll need a long time before you upgrade.

Hahahahaha. I have been youtubing and searching everything i can about the following models and last night when i found those link, my mind went crazy

The only condition that im getting ANY DSLR is after selling these stuff. After these are sold, ill go for the purchase. Even the T3i/600D is pretty cheap in those links. Snapsort recommends D5100 over 600D but i dont know why i have an inner feeling that 550D>D3100 and 600D>D5100, although i am a Nikon fan

i just went to the market today and asked for a demo. my interest was in nikon d3100, nikon d5100, canon 550d and canon 600d. the shopkeeper gave me a demo of 550d and the camera result was awesome.

So the real challenge is that which camera to go for from the 4 models. and which kit lens is suitable (one that comes with it or something better)? My budget is NOW max stretched to 70k-73k
and the price i got for the cameras are

1. nikon d3100 - 51k
2. nikon d5100 - 65k
3. Canon 550d - 64.5k
4. Canon 600d - 71k

considering the shopkeeper will come down after bargaining

1. Canon 550D vs. Canon 600D
2. Canon 600D vs. Nikon 5100
3. Nikon 3100 vs. Canon 550D (although Canon wins except cost)

My suggestion: D5100 with kit lens for now, and add other lenses later.

Given your budget is good enough...clearly D5100 over D3100

600D new for 71k? If its so...then clearly 600D over 550D without any second thought for just 6-7k difference...

600D or D5100; this is purely personal choice...I preferred 600D
