Petrol average varies widely, normally I get 12 KPL during the winter because I don't use the AC when its only 7 degrees outside but if I try to hypermile, I get around 15 KPL. I did get 16KPL twice without cruise control. In the summer, with 4 people on board and full time AC, I get 8-10 KPL.
So you can see that the average is between 10-12, city driving and around 15 KPL, highway driving.
I mostly use HOBC but sometimes it isn't available so I put in some regular petrol. It does not cause any problems to the engine as there is always some HOBC in the tank.
I drive the car rarely as we have a 2007 Civic Hybrid MXST for daily use(its driven around 200KMs daily). But from my experience, the repair and running is just a notch higher (if a Honda part costs 6500, the Merc part will be 7500 rupees) then my Honda. The repair cost is only high due to the labor cost at Shahnawaz, the part prices are almost the same. An air filter for my Civic hybrid costs Rs. 6500 from Honda Center while an air filter for the Merc is around Rs. 7500 (add around a thousand more for GST and labor cost) but the parts for the Merc are twice as durable and long lasting.
