Hi. I want to buy vxl alto 660 cc . Some people said that the gear shift jerk problem is very risky and also heard that its fuel economy is too bad 16 km compared to vxr which is more than 20 . is it true

Fuel economy part is totally wrong. AGS is also a clutch-less manual. In fact it has better fuel economy than VXR because the system shifts to a higher gear at a comparatively lower speed. Little jerks are there in small gears but I don't know how they are risky

So, I have booked a VXL ags Alto. The other day someone offered me to drive their friends brand new and hard used Alto. I jumped on the opportunity and i must say its very different from conventional auto transmissions. It feels like a manual car but it somehow shifts by itself (has the manual traits like vibration and slight jerks). I am buying it for the fuel cost saving and auto gears and i think it will do okay with me.
Let me tell you, I am a finicky person when it comes to automobiles but somehow te Alto was ok. Not a super refined machine but ok. AC was also good. In today's heat in Lahore I came out without a sweat and it dried what was already there. I went in with a low bar and Alto AGS didn't disappoint.
Gear shifts:
yes they are jerky but mostly its slow to shift. Its not a sports car and i drive a 3000cc turbo car so it felt lazy but its a point A to B car nothing more. still better than mehran. So spacious. Love the interior space. Not at all claustrophobic.
Suspension
Alto's extremely soft suspension always amazes me. It's very body rolly car but again very comfortable. built for our roads in mind.
Steering:
This steering is so light. Easy and breezy. True city car steering like the corolla, but with super small turning radius.
p.s. This purchase will do with the current petrol prices. Also it will be a second car so will be mostly used in city commute. In that regard not much to complain about. Current prices are too high though. Although in new cars this the only choice with automatic transmission
Mileage:
The guy who owns the car lives outside Lahore and does highway trips too and his average is 18-20 on average. thats a great mileage considering how this young guy drives.
The above driving experience is of a short drive in busy traffic conditions and i drive slow and cautious. was not stepping on the car hard. The guy who offered me the drive told that jerks are more on hard foot.
I plan to get extended warranty and get windows heat proofed when i buy it. will be perfect little city trip car.

Alto VXL AGS is my second car and i use it for daily office trips and other chores. I have driven it 3000 Kms so far.

1. GEAR SHIFTS: Heard a lot of hullabaloo regarding jerk in the transmission. I was pleasantly surprised to experience it first hand and can vouch that the shifts are smooth if you can just let the car breath for fraction of second at pre-defined speed levels. Gear changes go smoothly.

2. Mileage: Actively getting 19-20 km/ litre with speeds ranging from 60 to 100 km/h

3. Cooling: The car's AC performs exceptionally well until you hit rage mode of high rpms.

4. What could've been better: Lower Price, A true android panel, more airbags

hi Umar, Can you please let me know at what speed each gear should engage for minimal jerks? Any rough idea will help. the above question refers to the "pre-defined" term.

I have Alto VXR and it gave me great fuel efficiency after First Free service as I travelled from Islamabad to home town in Chiniot alone last Friday night and it covered 290+ KMs in 11 liters at speeds on 100-110 with AC at point 1 as it was night and I was alone in car. I saw a lot of Altos on motorway and surprisingly due to fuel prices all others were driving slower to achieve good mileage and I was crossing them like I was having bigger engine vehicle. It has a lot body roll and even though its smaller than Corolla (I had before this 2020 Gli) but its bit harder to control over corners maybe due to soft, being lighter or small suspension. My car is just 1800 KMs driven.

can anyone suggest what oil grade should I use 0w-20 or 10w-40? its brand new AGS and I live in karachi (temperature can rise upto 44 ) please suggest me the grade i should use for oil. Will get it replaced from Suzuki but I notice they don't have much information about it they usually suggest to go for 10w-40. thanks.
Plus do you guys suggest it getting it under coat from suzuki?

0w20. Suzuki dealers are using the correct oil since quite some time now. If the place you go to insists on 10w40, tell them to use 0w20 since it's your car. If they don't have it, dont bother with the 10w40. Go out instead and buy 0w20 from caltex or shell and do the oil change there. It's free. Just get the filter if you want from the dealership

For warranty claim, you need all service done from the dealerships inclusive of oil changes, else they can easliy refuse for warranty claims by telling you that your car has not completed mandatory service schedule provided by the car manufaturer hence your warranty is void.

I know how warrenty claims work. But its your choice. If you want to pour in the thick goo in a engine that fits in your palm, go right ahead. I mentioned that the dealerships have switched to 0w20. If they won't, tell them you want the suzuki 0w20 oil. If they still won't find a different dealership.

I'd rather have the correct oil in the engine knowing it won't go bust than the goo which will surely ruin the engine. You'll need those warranty claims much faster with that oil.

My 1500km driven alto vxl ags is giving an average of only 12.3. I don’t drive it with a hard foot? What can be the reason be for such a bad fuel average? Haven’t gotten service dont yet

Reset the avg counter everytime you travel. That will show the true value for each journey. The longer the trip for the avg counter is, the less the deviation will be making you think your cars average is bad

The correct way is to fill up the tank, reset the trip counter, travel and fill it up again. That will result in the true avg

It could be because you are driving in stop and start traffic or idle it for longer or fuel quality is not good...
