I would request all owners (mentioning fuel averages) to be fair while quoting fuel averages of their cars as new owners are getting disturbed when they are not able to achieve fuel average of 20-21 kmpl in city driving.
We need to ensure that we mention the area where we are getting 20-21 kmpl & traffic/road conditions as well.
A person living in Krishan Nagar will never be able to achieve above 14 kmpl if his daily driving is within Krishan Nager area, whereas someone travelling from Bahria town to DHA will easily be getting 20-21 kmpl. All those interested in checking fuel average should drive at ring road to get an idea.
I hope new owners will be relieved after reading this post.

give 15-20KMs roughly. Say for example if it gives 20KMs more then 269+20=289. Its is not good at all, it means mine is giving just13.13KM/L?? I also don't "kehnchofy" my car. I drive it with light foot by avoiding sudden speeding and braking. I also need to mention here that I live in Karachi and face heavy traffic jams especially on my way back to home (21KMs- one side).

Kindly advise me how to get best mileage/ maximum in per liter and should I fll the tank to fullest i.e. 27L or jus

Change your filling station to company operated Total. 2ndly, get the engine oil changed to 0W20 from suzuki dealership asap. 3rdly if you get this average in heavy traffic jams, then no other car except hybrid is going to give you this much fuel average.
Lastly, go to some empty road. Toggle the meter to live average and then accelerate the car to some decent speed. Disengage the gear lever and then let the car run free for a while . Instant average should show 40-50kmpl. Remember you must disengage the gear and let the car run freely for this to show. This is just to check if there is any technical fault or not. If the instant average does show the mentioned number (40-50kmpl) while doing this then you should switch your route to a the one with less traffic. If it doesnt then either you didnt do it right or your car has a technical fault. Hope it helps

I have vxr and disengaging means neutral. Yes you can shift it to N and let the car run free

Thanks buddy, I will take it to the dealership as soon I m done 1000KMs. I just drove 380KMs till now. I am optimistic that it would give me the desired average i.e. 18KMs/L within city with AC On.

My 2011 1300cc manages better fuel average then a WagonR.

Even suzuki dealerships claims it gives 12 with full ac. 33,000 driven it doesnt go beyond 11.5-12 in my case.

But my question is to you would be, if the car will show the 40-50KMs instant average? like your's show (manual VXR)?

hmm...but there is a lot of difference in Engine CC power. Wagon-R is 1000 whilst Alto is just 660. Plus body size and weight does matter. I believe Wagon-R is equipped with K- Series engine while new Alto has R series engine. The block is of silver and also very light weight as compared to Wagon-R.

Yes, a normally functioning alto should show such figures while free running i.e. engine running on idle rpms and not engaged to wheels. Any decent speed should be enough suck as 40-80 kmph. You could also do it 100 kmph + but I wouldnt advise it due to safety reasons

Wagon r does give better average than that. If you claim that your 1300cc car can give better average than wagon r in dense traffic then it is quite far fetched.

If you are in Karachi you travel with me. My daily route is defence to Hub aproxx 55km one way. My 2011 corolla easily does 12.5-13 km/L while WagonR manages 11-11.5 on the similar route.
