@s55
sorry for the late reply bro. had been busy with university stuff, so hadnt been going online much.
now to answer your question, both western digital and seagate have their own separate technologies (no of platters, platter sizes, etc). but in terms of performance, both are actually quite similar. you will find small variations in performance of different models, but on average they both equal out.
The reason that seagate is priced higher than western digital is because the distributors for seagate (marsons) are arrogant incompetent baffoons. the distributors for western digital (roma infotech) are a lot more sensible, and galaxy computers has a better relationship with them (thus they promote their products more).
The price difference between 400gb WD (rs.5400) and 400gb Seagate (rs.6700) is artificial. the only reason seagate 400gb is priced so much higher is because of the shortage. if you go to buy it, it wont be available at any price. the price has only been increased to encourage you to buy western digital. If you look at other harddrives by the two, the price difference wont exceed 400-500rs.
personally i like seagate better (it is generally more durable and more resistant to voltage fluctuations). but in pakistan, i would always buy western digital because the distributors for that are a lot more efficient in terms of warranty procedures.
