OK firstly thanks for the advice. Always love the A mode (aperture mode). Works perfect on the D5100.
OK instead of getting the 18-300 Lens i got the yongnuo 568 speed light. And trust me it just opened a whole new world for the D5100 specially on the event shoots. Tough the speed light i wanted was the Nissin Di866 since it could work as master and i could have been able to use slave flashes placed at corners of the stage etc and it would have been far more dramatic however still bouncing light off the speed light still works.
Next lens stop will be either Sigma 17-70 or 24-70.
The professional photographer who covered the same event was using D610 with Tamron 24-70 F2.8 and it was a killer combo.

Yes, flash guns are a different dimension in the field of photography. You will have a good time playing with them. Will learn a lot about lighting.

Yes personally I am also after the same lens in the Nikkor category i.e. Nikkor 24-70 f2.8G.

Bro if you are going to get a speed light than do evaluate Sigma 17-70 2.8-4 as well. the light will cover for the reduced aperture size at 70 MM however probably you will be saving some bucks.

Yes i have been recommended by lot of people to check the recent models since they offer great quality or maybe even better than propreitary lenses. Till now mind is stuck on nikkor 24-70 and sb700
Will evaluate my decision further prior to acquiring either of the stuff.

Do consider Tamron 24-70 VC 2.8f. It matches the Nikon lens & is cheeper by 70-75K.
I got it for my D750 & am happy, next on line is Tamron 15-30 VC 2.8.

couple of days back got to know that tamron is now available with official dealership.

do check their new DI lens 28-300 looks like a great option to me working on portraits with a speed light.

also i have compared and i can safely tell u that tamron 24-70 is sharper than sigma 24-70.

Brother I use Adobe LIghtroom and it gives that option. I am sure 3rd party Apps do but not really sure if the DSLR would have this feature builtin. Time stamp is there but no watermark thingy.
