Naran Kaghan Tour - September 2017

Hello Everyone,

I am planning for a tour to Naran Kaghan with my wife starting from 10 September to 16 September. We shall be going from Lahore to Abottabad (Daewoo), Mansehra and than Naran. I am looking for help and assistance in following points;

• Is it a reasonably good time to travel?

• Please suggest me some good hotels to stay in Naran and Shogran (My budget for per night stay at hotel is around 3000-5000 pkr)

• Is advance booking necessary or room can be availed there and then? Please suggest some authentic links from online booking?

• Will it be a wise decision to book a Jeep for 4/5 continuous days to visit all places? If yes, what should be the charges for it?

Any other valuable suggestion/comment will be highly appreciated and welcomed as I am travelling first time in this region.

1 - Yes it is good time to travel but be aware that it would be just after EID, so, area may be over-crowded.. Better to delay by one or two weeks, if u can..
2 - For this budget, I would suggest you to stay in batkundi (small village / town 15kms from Naran)..
3 - Advance booking may be required because of eid season (don't have idea about how to do that)
4 - Why book for 4-5 days? You will need it for Siri Paye and Saif-Ul-Mulook, so book for those routes only when you go..

Thank you for your response.

As a matter of fact, I shall be coming on vacations from Saudi Arabia, hence I shall be able to arrange this tour from September 10 to September 16.

For point # 2, Would you please suggest approxiametly price range of hotel to stay in Naran area as such rather than going to Batkundi.

For point # 4, how to arrange travelling for Lalazar, Babusar, and Lulusar Lake etc.

In Naran, during peak season, rooms rate shoot up to 7,000-8,000, but you might get at 5000-6000 depending upon bargaining skills and rush situation..
Don't have idea about transport as I visited on my own car..

Last year I paid 2,500 for 2 days stay in Naran in August 18-19. There are a lot of hotels and during Bakra Eid, these areas are nearly empty as people leave for their homes for performing sacrifice. During eid ul fitr, it is a different situation however with very expensive rates

Thank you @mustafasethi, upto 5000 pkr will be okay for me. Anyways, I am trying to book PTDC in advance to avoid any hickups.

It is always better to ask the rates of the hotels and check the room (and the toilet) yourself. If you think that during your visit, there will be a lot of rush then only in this case you should book a hotel in advance, otherwise reach there and then decide. There are a lot of hotels in Naran.

PTDC is usually on the expensive side definitely.

you can book a jeep for rs 2000 (august ). I don't know about their charges during July. It may be more.

For Lulusar, they were asking for 4,500 (august)

This time I will try staying in Kaghan instead of Naran. Kaghan is quite near Naran on the same road but smaller than naran. so maybe I will get a better bargain (better hotel at same rates).

Please note that electricity is restricted from 6 pm to 10 pm only. and very few hotels offer hot water (every one promises but they don't give you the hot water) this happened with me and even on complaining, nothing happened

electricity problem is fixed.....last year there was no wapda power and hotels were using generators....now wapda is restored and you get electricity all the time except the usual load shedding hours....

@flesisti my exact travelling dates are from 14 sep to 19 sep. Anyways I shall share my experience here.

Last year in september on return back from Hunza, I stayed in Hotel Taj Palace. Cost was 4,000 per day. This is in Batakundi about half hour before Naran (coming from Hunza's side). Very nice hotel even though the charges is a bit too much, but they told me that they were closing in 3-4 days time and normally they charge 7,000
