NEED GUIDANCE: Karachi to khunjerab pass on Honda City

No need to carry extra fuel, get your tank filled from PSO Balakot and then from Jaglot.

no issue with honda city but with a personal experience i will say k dont push the car too hard yes keep your rpm under 4500 on hills because me with my friends were on the way to peer sahawa & cluth plate got burned i mean farig hogai thi car was,nt accelerating at all the reason was obvious my friend was pushing the car too hard till 6000 rpm which is probably the reason for such thing the car model was 2009 city 50k on odo
we slowly drived car back islamabad ,car was hardly driving itself not going above speed of 20-30 & we got new pressure & clutch plate & after that we went to murree peer sohawa with care my friend was driving we didnt pushed it too hard & then reached back lhr safely

i would say it was just an inexperience driving and completely mishandled.. you would never require that hard push to 6000 rpm..

that is I agree but I have also seen experienced drivers pushing there car to 6000 rpm many times on isl to murree road but still nothing happened only seen that on the particular car maybe that could be because that car clutch plate needed to be changed correct me if i am wrong

Hi Asad,

Their are no issues, you can easily do it with Honda City 1300-CC, just traveled last month in City 1300-CC from Lahore to Khunjrab, roads are good all across the route except a patch of almost 25/30 Km between Chilas to Raikot bridge, 5/7 Km is in bad condition & needs extra care, rest of the road is only bumpy between Chilas & Raikot, other than this patch of 25/30 KM you will have a feel that you are driving on Motorway.

Only advice for your overall trip is to drive carefully.

I have gone to khunjerab pass on my old civic 1998 without any issue. Only issue i think which occured with me was because this car has low ground clearence and trunk was full so it can hit on stones or road when fully loaded

no issues with the car you are taking....have just completed a trip mid July Lahore to China via Khunjerab Pass and back to Gilgit up to Ghizer Valley, then back to Lahore via Babusar Top on 2016 Altis 1.8....Skardu,Naltar Valley and Deosai Plains trip we did on Jeep as it was not car friendly at all...as you are going to take only KKH, so will tell you road conditions for the road you are taking......one patch from Chillas to Raikot bridge is under construction which is about 15-20 kms...most of this distance has not been carpeted (as of mid July 2018), but you can drive slow...nothing to worry about....I myself was only doing max 20kmpl as didn't want to ruin my car and I suggest you do the same....rest road is all carpeted...no problem going at over 100 kmpl...just you need to be cautious about other drivers, mostly local as they all drive NCP and not following lane rule....as long as you are cautious, no need to worry....also be careful around bends as you will see people coming in your direction..khunjerab pass gets very cold, so especially for little ones and also adults, keep warm clothes handy...you will find plenty of petrol pumps on the way so no need to carry extra petrol, quality of petrol is not good so better to fill a tank or two with High Octane when you reach Islamabad...had trouble starting my car on Babusar Top due to the fuel I had been putting in but could be I got a bad lot.....lastly just enjoy the trip and drive safely
