Salaam Experts, I have a Honda Civic 8th gen for the past 5 years, it is no doubt a great car. However, Me and family love travelling and we go to northeren areas 2 or 3 times a year on big trips. I just came back from a long trip to the mountains, visited Minimarg, Deosai, went to Skardy, Shigar and a lot of other places. I went to these places on my Civic except for Minimarg (only 4x4) are allowed there) but the problem is that my car took really hard beating when it came to ground clearence. I scrapped the under belly of the car like a million times and and every time the it scrapped, it felt like a mini heart attach to me.
This time my father has suggested me to sell the Civic and go for an old 4 x4 car. Toyota Hilux Vigo to be exact. So I started searching and came across imported Vigos as they have better build quality, comfort and engine. However, I have concern related to the 1 KD 3 Litre engine. I have heard that it is a great engine that can last forever but has injectors issue which means that if you pour bad quality diesel in it, it will choke the injectors and the engine and the repair costs are really high. However, being a diesel engine it has a great fuel economy at least better than Civic 8th Gen. (Correct if I am wrong about it) but it does serve the purpose, I can take it to with my family to any place without fear of getting stuck or scrapping the undercarriage but on the other hand, I fear of buying a an old Vigo not sure of the engine condition.
On the other hand, I have reseached on Suzuki Vitara and have heard great things about it and it offroad capabilities and its amazing features but I am confused that if I buy a Suzuki Vitara, would it resolve my ground clearence and 4 x 4 concerns.
Plase help.
