Day-03 (19/8/2014)

I got up early in the morning and after saying the Fajar Prayer I took my camera and captured some shots before sunrise. After breakfast we were ready for visit of Sharda University area. We asked about a place ?Kishan Ghati? from some local jeep drivers as it is jeep able (4 x 4) trek and after detailed discussion we have cancelled the program to go there and decided to move further towards Kel. Please find below some snaps on the way to Sharda baazar, Sharda University and from Sharda to Kel.

Lovely pics and informative.

Whats the overall law and order situation? like in Babusir pass, there was couple of incidents reported .. hope nothing of this sort in this area?
Also, how long it takes from MZ to Sharda? you mentioned you reached Sharda at 730pm but not exactly sure when did you leave in the morning?

Also, how was the quality of the accommodation? i have heard AJK tourism has couple of good rest houses as well.

Thanks a lot for your kind comments. Yes there is no issue regarding law and order situation in all over the neelum valley. All the places are quite safe and sound and under the control of Pak Army. Pls take your original CNIC with u and some security check (by Pak Army) posts will check you. You can travel at night up to sharda with out any hesitation / worried but suggest you if u are with the family then travel only from dawn to dusk. Sharda is 136 Kilometers from Muzaffarabad. If you travel direct from MZD up to Sharda without any stop you can reach with in 5-6 hours. But the scenic views on the way up to sharda will not allow you to go directly. The will attract you to break the journey especially the Karen this is a beautiful / interesting place (we also stayed there for a long tea break / snapping etc.). The Indian occupied Kashmir side is right in front of us I mean one side bank of river Neelum we are (Pakistan) and other side very close to us is Indian side and their check posts and ammunition's depot is quite visible from our side. The road condition from MZD ~ Sharda is very good except some bad patches but manageable. In Sharda, Keran and Kel Tourism rest houses are available with all best necessaries and facilities. If you want to stay in these rest houses then you will need advance booking from Muzaffarabad office. All others good rest houses / hotels are also available for night stay as a second option.

Yes river is LOC (Line of Control) between Pakistan & India. When we travel from Muzaffarabad fo Sharda and onward the right side of the river is Indian occupied Kashmir side. Some times both sides come to very close like a small town named Nosahri before Athmuqam here you can see the Indian flag on the other (right) side of the river and population on both sides are very close to each other side even a bridge is there to cross the river. The both sides meet each other. The security check posts are there from both sides. Before 1999 conditions were very critical due to un-necessary firing from both sides. Now the all conditions are under control due to cease fire agreement signed by both sides in 1999 and till up to now no un-usual incident occurred in this valley by both sides. The tourists are visiting this valley from 2009. Now the things have been changed roads, foods and good accommodations are available and visitors are visiting these areas frequently, This area stil need more development for prosperity of our homeland and also the promotion of this beautiful valley but all machinery is still sleeping and sleeping……… </SPAN>

Good snaps and covering details, the best part is the detailed information about the route, hotels etc for me in order to plan family trip in coming school vacation. Apreceate if you can add contact numbers for hotel advance booking and your comments for family stay.
