@speedster_101, Civic and Corolla are like mangoes and apples; even though both are fruits but they are different. Even today I will buy Civic as we already had Corolla in the house and to keep the variety in the house I was not considering Corolla. I am assessing this new Altis to replace the existing one of the house. I still think that its priced too high and waiting now for its price drop.

Is there any local car whose price is justified? Every car in Pakistan is overpriced.
The new price list will be implemented after 1st July.

My city AT 2010 does 120 @~2.6k-2.7k with AC on, i would expect 1.6 to give better. so 2.3k@ 120 for civic seems to be true but for GLI and altis 1.6 we need to confirm the stats. especially 3.4k is way too much for GLI
Update the stats and lets see the figures accumulating in the table

Guys you were right about the techniques of dealership guys regarding delivery time.
A few days ago I visited Honda Centre Rawalpindi and asked them about the delivery period of Honda City MT. He told me its 3 months but you can buy the car right now by paying 70K premium. I told him that I will book the car. I booked the car on 2nd June. Its 20th June today and I have got a call from him 5 minutes ago. He said that your car is here at showroom, you can get the delivery now.
I know the prices are reducing on 1st July. What should I do? Get the delivery or ask him to deliver after 1st July. I have an official letter of Honda which states that delivery would be in July end.

If your car is already invoiced you'll have to take the delivery. I booked altis in may end and will be getting it in a day or two inshallah but my delivery month was June.

I inquired the sales manager about this. He said No, the car is not invoiced yet.

I think u might have a choice to accept the car or delay it by next month. U should ask this thing from them on phone I suggest. In my case the car is already invoiced so left with no choice. Any way atleast I did not pay premium/own on my car

@speedster_101 I will suggest to take the delivery the difference (if any) will be of max 30k? How much price was increased last month before budget? In Civic they increased 40k. Even if budget is approved Atla$ Honda and Indu$ Toyota will not decrease prices quickly they will take some time for sure.

Be very careful; as people are reporting bad units having Acceleration and Knocking problems in 2010/2011 City...Ask them that due to this you will "sign" delivery paper after test driving the unit being delivered. Take someone from dealer with you and test it properly for this issue.

Thanks a lot brother for your wishes.
I asked the sales manager about the price reduction in the month of July. First, he said that there is no price reduction, but then I told him about reduction in sales tax and SED. After a long conversation, he admitted that yes price is getting reduced but only by 18K. Now I don't know its correct or not.

I talked to him in detail about the issue of Honda City in 2nd gear and knocking issue, I told him about Pakwheels, that many users have reported this issue. As expected he said that the car is made perfectly, the problem is with fuel in Pakistan. Honda City is Euro 4 Compliant and the fuel is very impure. He said that we have sold a fleet of 35 cars to Telenor and they were having problems with PSO pump. So Telenor changed their fleet cards to Shell and now the problem is solved.
I don't know the things he said are correct or not, but his dealing was quite good, he listened and answered each and every query of mine.

In general A/T cars needs lower RPMs in top gear to achieve particular speed than its M/T sister; I am still (A) why; but this is so.

For the sake of fun; I prepared the excel sheet using which you one can learn how much speed car will be going at different RPMs; or how many RPM is required for given speed. If you are interested you can download that spread sheet from https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjsJy2j0I-e6dGkxVW43SmtTN2F5cTh5a2Z6TGtXekE&authkey=COulgfAI&hl=en_US (File > Download As > Excel). One need to enter gear ratios and tyre size and it does the rest. AT does the same speed at low rpms than MT because AT has long gears.Take a example Toyota Altis 1.8 AT and MT .
At does 120 at 2.7 but 4 speed
mt does 120 at 3.2 but 5 speed
The difference lies because of the longer gears of AT .I have tested Altis At 1.8 first gear goes to 65-130-175-210
YOu can see that it has very long gears that 2nd gear can take you to 130.So definitely it will take less rpm while Manual ones have short gears providing you more pick

Usually AT cars have less gear ratio of its "top gear"; i-e they need less RPM (in "top gear") to cruise at particular speed; say 120. You guys now have the spreadsheet to play around....

Dont compare the values of the two cars say older Altis 1.8 with newer Altis 1.6; they have different engines having different technology and even different sizes and must have different fuel consumption values (at different RPMs). One can use this table to compare just A/T and M/T sisters and to determine whats the range of speed he may cruise for maximum fuel efficiency, the new Altis now even has ECO-LIGHT (Y)
