I drove this new facelift xli on an official trip to Lahore and found it much better than the previous model. Seats are more comfortable and a very quite engine. At two occasions I thought the engine was off, but then found out that it was running. Very nice and smooth drive and engine feels powerful enough for a 1.3. Did not check the fuel economy or average.

Yaar every company has its own policy aimed at maximizing their profit. Farmaishi programme abhi Pakistani main available naheen. You can configure your Audi or BMW on their website and place the order with the features you want.

I am not endorsing IMC stupid policy of not giving power windows in Xli, even Liana and City had them, but still people are buying it.

I would love to see immobilizer in every car in Pakistan given the thieves rule in this country. But if IMC does not give it what people can do? I think if you so much want IMC to introduce immobilizer in their vehicles you can file a petition in a consumer court or request the CJ to take a suo moto action.

Which Suzuki didnt, And they kept the technology with them only,

There fore if these ECOtec Corollas have issues, Local mechanics wouldnt mind putting there hands into them.

Yes that is the right thing to do(H) A friend of my friend after reading the thread about rising Corolla thefts, bought a City, purely for his reason. Now he is mixing hi-Octane to prevent knocking:P

City iVTEC is a very good car; I kept it and it doesnt knock..one doesnt need Hi Octane at all; just do these three things [a] keep driving it; knocking goes away [b] identify company operated fuel pumps and always use fuel from them and [c] use synthetic lubricant; helix ultra and mobil 1 are best for City iVTEC; dont use Honda oil...Pass on this info to your friend

I am pouring in normal petrol (Super) in my City iVTEC. I use to get it filled from Shell pumps in Islamabad. There is no problem at all.
But one thing I must say that this car doesn't tolerate wrong gear shifting. If you are driving in a slow speed and put the car in 4th gear, it will feel like it is dead. My other cars (Khyber 2000 & Altis 2007) also behave sluggish in such situation but they somehow pull it up by knocking and producing different engine sound until they reach the required speed of that gear.
But if you drive City iVTEC with correct gear shifts, believe me its very fast. Xli/Gli can't even be compared with City iVTEC's pick.

While going thru my 2011 Corollas owners manual, i found it saying, "Minute knocking driving uphills is normal".

Actually I drove my friend's City and liked it too. In fact I advised him to get City as it offered abs+power windows which were missing from Xli and it was good value for money. But now with his knocking problems I feel guilty of giving him wrong advise.

In my age group, pick does not count, but a reliable comfy ride is priority. Without knocking issues, City is a nice package. I think Atlas could not configure the ECU according to Pakistan fuel octane ratings.

Despite all the negative comments my experience with both 2010 and 2011 Xlis had been great on all road conditions and weathers. The Xli which I took to Lahore had returned last week from Kaghan, Shogran and Naran after covering an international cyclist rally.

PS: No City-Corolla war please, just narrating my first hand experience with both cars.

I have not faced any knocking issues with my 2011 City iVTEC, but if one is too lazy to change the gear after a speed braker than that is another issue. If I compare City iVTEC with my Altis 2007, Altis knocks a lot more than City.
Believe me if the petrol is not of good quality, Altis tells me instantly. It starts knocking and it is so much prominent that the passengers sitting with me can easily feel it. In case of City, if the fuel is bad then it also knocks but it is minute knocking and only driver feels it.
PS: All the cars knock on bad fuel, even an old carby car knocks if the fuel is bad.
