3ZZ is an old engine now.....it wud be a shame if they offer the same engine in 2011 model car which they were offering back in 2005, with almost double the price of the car....1ZR wud be a gem of an engine for this car, which is, being offered in foreign models already

The 3ZZ-FE they were offering back then in SE Saloon was non-VVT-i, whereas if they decide to offer it now, it will be VVT-i. They simply cannot afford to offer 1.6L 1ZR-FE, because of the following reasons:
1. It will be expensive resulting in a low profit for IMC and they might set its price very near the current price tag of 1.8L Altis, so no one will opt for 1.8L.
2. It is 124PS whereas the current 1.8L Altis is 130PS. This depicts a slight power difference as the torque also has a minimal difference. Giving 1ZR-FE in the altis will significantly lower their sales of 1.8L Altis.

Some one here posted some figures depicting the monthly sales of 1.8L Altis. Units of Altis sold amounts to total sales of City n Civic. So i guess Altis is more popular than Civic.

I hope it's available in Auto. Many people have to buy city and civics just due to the fact that their main preference is an automatic sedan. Now with lesser price than current Altis, this 1.6 version would be a hit. About time they should also introduce GLI with auto option as well.

1.6L variant should sport a 1ZR-FE engine else it would fail to justify the price of 1.6 model....if Indus was to offer 3ZZ-FE they would have appropriately done in the place of existing 1.3L XLI/GLI model. Switch to ZR family of engine with it's 1.6L model would be competitive.

Toyota has the most market share than all companies combined .. what to talk of honda ... honda sells around 400 units suzuki 900 and toyota 4500 units in a month all varients .... the least selling version of toyota is altis 1.8 around 300+ units nearing total honda sales.. the marketing people will be targeting something in 1.6 version to further boost the sales cuz in these good green days they can do experiments of any kind ... they r making profits .. and if they hit more sales they you never know honda altas may close the plant ... cuz its very very tough for them to servive...

plus im looking at the the new 1.4l diesel version faster /economical/quiter.. which will replace the old donkey 2C engine more than 25years old .
2C engine 1974cc (53KW) 71 hp 103nm torque (non turbo) 21/31 mpg.
1ND-TV engine 1364cc(66.2KW)88.7hp 190nm torque Turbo max 58.8 mpg(8valve SOHC ) .. very quite engine..if this engine comes imagine going to islamabad from lahore in 800rs diesel cuz people go in old diesel corolla for around 1600rs...
there is a 16valve dohc version also even more powerfull ...

And here in LHR I see more civic's than altis..... And Gli/Xli are by far more than city and civic combined

Hain? no one is fighting here. I only quoted for Vajih102 what i read. I see more Altis on road than Civic. Civic has been around since 2006 whereas Altis was launched at the end of 2008. So i see more 2008-2010 Altis than 2008-2010 Civic. The previous Altis had hard time competing against the 8th Gen Civic during 2006-2008, but the new altis is selling like hot cakes now. Anyways, this analysis cannot be justified by one's perception of on-road quantity of the said cars. If only PAMA was intelligent enough to post the figures of 1.3 and 1.8 separately.
The new one 1.6 will be a huge success if priced reasonably, i had plans of opting for the new civic in the mid of '11 but now i m leaning towards the upcoming 1.6L Altis. It'll be great if by some miracle IMC decides to offer it with 1ZR-FE, but considering how they prefer their profit margins over customer satisfaction, they will surely introduce it with 3ZZ-FE VVT-i.

if this is the case, i hope they dont introduce 3ZZ-FE with VVT-i. at least it would work good on CNG then, otherwise, its gonna be another failure on CNG as is the case with current 2NZ-FE in current xli/gli

Thats probably for the Taxi customers. so most probably in the 1.3L version and Gli to. If Gli is omited maybe in the 1.6L version too.
