^^ Because the 1.6 GLi will have a 1.6L engine. They might start the booking later and might call it something else. I think some one on this thread commented earlier that it might be called the GLi Plus.

Adding to the discussion, I quite agree that introducing 2 engines of same category by Indus sounds impossible. In Pakistan people do not care what engine unit is being put into the car (ZR or ZZ), as long as they're both 1.6 people (majority) will keep thinking that they both have same engine and same power.

Just FYI:
the IMC line of Corolla is as follows:
1. XLI, 1.3 manual
2. GLI, 1.3 manual
3. GLI, 1.6 auto (expected in may, no booking as yet)
4. Altis, 1.6 manual
5. Altis, 1.6 manual Sunroof
6. Altis, 1.6 auto
7. Altis, 1.6 auto Sunroof

the difference b/w option 3 & 6 is some interior / air-bags / steering etc

and yes to me it is also not making much sense but I got it from two reliable sources.
plus i am opting for 1.6 GLI automatic thus waiting for it till May....

That facelift will only increase the price and isn useless for PAK market as the all new JDM Corolla will be launched in October next year.

Everyone seems to have a reliable source to quote :), it was earlier expected that the launch is in March then April now May...who knows they may launch in August. The later they launch the more expensive it will be due to taxes.

every day i vist this thread with hope to see something new but when i vist this thread i find nothng .some say they r launching .some say next month .poster has posted the picture but didnot give us any information .i think this is not launching now must be launched next year with other companies

First of all I have confirmed from my source ie Indus motors the car will be launched in April and secondly if there was any delay as u say then they would have continued with the bookings of the existing model and that we all know that they have stopped. It is we people including me r getting impatient as the Toyota have already told us many times about the April launch. So brothers let's hope for the best. I'm too is in line for a 1.6

No; checked with the dealer; and they have given a new date; April 21st with 1 month delivery time for Altis. They still have 1.8 Altis in stock. They are even saying this new 1.6 Altis will have even higher prices than 1.8 Altis*. Best of luck to them for a new flop product! (H)

* This might be a sale statement for clearing their current 1.8 stock

^ the altis variant since its launch has had low sales, there entire focus is on the Gli, shes the cash cow for Indus currently. Probably thats why we might see the auto Gli variant.

The Altis would mostly be bought by the goverment sector since they cannot go for cars more then 1.6L, Now top of the line altis variants wouldbe opted my goverment

Toyota Airport Motors have updated the pictures of the Corolla with the new one. They call it "New Corolla 2011".

Still no confirmation about price or launch date though.

2.0V..? The prestigious "dark colored wood panels"..? I highly doubt about authenticity of the pictures; they must have ripped the images off some web site; Thai' Toyota might be!
